I would like to know the legal angle of driving with 6000k HID in cities. Also can you give me the address of the philips dealer from which you bought it. |
Since you are from kerala you can procure the original philips hid from ekm. It is available with b &w in certain well known spares shops here. Only thing is they might not stock it ready. And yes it is an original german make kit. Also they would install it for free. Its just a 30min affair. Not sure abt the current price here now. About the legal angle no idea though. I just hav adjusted the beam for max throw n visibility. And its good.

Tried out my new bulbs and found them excellent.. The difference between this and the more powerful 130/100 is really not that noticable. The beam travels far n quite wide. Blind spots are minimum. I felt the philips 130/100 did not have the spread of the osram 100/80. But this might hav been an alignment issue. The osrams also tend to heat up a bit tho not as much as 130/100. The beam spread and focussing would also depend varying from car to car. A bit more expensive compared to philips 100/90 but would recommend this bulb to all users looking for a bulb upgrade. Just hoping this would last longer than the 130/100s.. |
which bulb has the best spread in both high and low beam
This is how Low beam and High beam Look on my Karizma, its a 8000K HID.
Is it somewhat possible to converge the beam slightly,i have tried adjusting headlight in all possible ways but to no avail.
Fitting HIDs on cars and bikes which come with Halogen's are illegal.
Thats what the law says, so don't get caught

yeah but nothing can be done in indian bikes to improve lighting in bike by changing halogen so HID is the only option.
jav.. felt that philips 130/100 and osram 100/80 both hav good spread and travel. but it would depend on the car headlight dome. for me osram gave a better performance. probably cos i installed new imported original headlamp assy(not the cheapo locally made ones)along with the bulbs. the philips was used with my old domes(still original ones)which wer sort of dusty inside n also a bit misaligned.
Hi all.. Please see the philips hid in action. Main n dipped beam.. The photos were taken when it was absolutely dark (no power) :) And yes this is a h4 bi xenon with motor control for hi/low beam.
Hella 450 installed on front bumper. How does it look ?
Ugly, bad or OK types :D

Have not got a chance to test them as it was installed yesterday. Will go on a trip to himachal next weekend, the verdict will come after that. The cost was 1300 for the pair plus about 200 for installation and relay.

Its good man, could you please post pics with the light on in the dark.
@Shakensoul, I would have mounted them lower.. in the bumper. Depends on what your requirement is though!
Not ugly, cos the black white/combo goes with your car :)

That was what I planned initially, but it involved a lot of bumper cutting, so thought abt putting it at the top. Well lets see how it goes.
Yesterday I upgraded my headlamps. Details:
Narva bulbs : 300/- (100/90W)
Anmol wiring set with relay: 500/-
Installation: 100/-
Light spread is good and also the brightness.
One feel confident while driving in the night.
