How important is anti-rust coating?

Guys today I gave my Indica in for its first service. The guy wanted me to get a Dinitrol treatment done to the floorpan. According to him otherwise it catches rust very easily and then requires a whole floorpan replacement.

He says the charges are Rs.1700+taxes. I presume that makes it something around Rs2000 just for the anti-rust treatment. My question is do you people think it is really necessary to get it done? Do you all have it on (or rather under) your vehicles? And finally, is the cost he is saying correct (My friend says he got it done last year on his Santro for only Rs.900-1000 or so from Talwar Hyundai).

Come on guys... someone must be having some experience with this so called anti-rust treatment to the floor pan of the car. Is it really required? Any details etc. are welcome in the matter. I think they call it Dinitrol.

Yes that is what he said. The underbody (he called it floorpan). And the treatment was dinitrol. Cost 1700+taxes (~2k).

ok found it turboindia. Thanx buddy. I guess I was not searching for under-body coating. So that is a recommended thing as I gather it. I was a bit skeptical about it to begin with... :-D

Zappo, I don't think under-body treatment is required for cities like Hyderabad or Bangalore where humidity content in the air is very less. For cities that face the sea, this treatment might be useful but for Hyd/Blr it does not make any difference.

I agree with cnu..for cities close to the coast,I guess it's useful.
I have got it done on both my vehicles in Mumbai through a car care specialist.
