Re: Formula 1, 2022 season | The bold predictions thread

Ferrari has a fast car but fail to win any championship due to hard intra-team battle.

Championship decided in the last lap of the last race.

Hamilton dominates Russell in races but gets outqualified.

Re: Formula 1, 2022 season | The bold predictions thread

My predictions are:-

1. Championship decided in the last race.
2. Many teams trying to exploit the grey areas in rules and few out rightly cheating.
3. Four way title fight between young guns Max-Lando-Charles-George.
4. Stewards are again going to be in-consistent in their decisions application of penalties, to favor Sir Hamilton.
5. George Russell constantly being faster than Sir Lewis, but held back due to Mercedes team orders.
6. More unpredictable & exciting races.
7. More DNF's throughout the season.
8. Russell winning qualifying head to head with Lewis.
9. Close teammate rivalries in multiple teams.
10. Six teams winning races.
11. Mercedes tantrums continuing.
12. Fernando Alonso Vettel win one race.
13. At least one record to be made in the season.
14. Fewer tyre dramas.
15. More overtakes than any other season.

Now that's a bold prediction indeed, because BOSE is no longer a partner of Mercedes F1 and Toto doesn't have unlimited supplies of those headphones like earlier!

My bad, it’s just his signature angry move from now on and we could see that again this year, it just gotta be some headphone that takes the beating

Re: Formula 1, 2022 season | The bold predictions thread

As much as I would like Ferrari to win the championship, it would be a huge ask! I have been waiting from 2007-08 for this the team to lift the championship again ( and now my 9 year old son too has been waiting for the last 3-4 years now)

However, with the engine virtually remaining the same, I would still think Mercedes will have an edge, they have had the best engine in the Hybrid era by a long mile! RedBull, well everyone expects that they would sort of come up with some radical aero bits which will help them stay ahead, primarily because they have Adrian newey!

So I believe the top 2 will remain where they are, the top 2! However Mclaren and Ferrari should close the gap! At least that’s the hope! My only wish is that Ferrari is in the mix, like they should be in the mix for top 3-4 positions in every race.

Apart from these top 4 teams, I really don’t see a major change in the middle order. Alpine, Aston Martin, Alpha Tauri would more or less remain where they are. Williams is the only team which could really make some gains and sort of shift to the real midfield. Haas and Alfa Romeo are likely to remain at the bottom, given how their testing has been marred with troubles.

Also, I believe it would take 3-4 races for the real order to be known. And there may not be a standard order all the way thru, teams would keep innovating or even copying each other throughout the season ( although there is a budget cap in place).

Although Bottas didn't out-perform, he's close enough.
I never thought this is the one of my bold predictions that comes true.

Looks like all Mercedes customer teams are struggling. come-on Lando

My top 3 Predictions:
1. Russell faster than Hamilton (or might hold back due to "team-orders").

3. Mick finishes in the top 15 in the drivers rankings.
Fantastic predictions. Nothing outrageously imaginative, but well called!

There’s also another interesting statistic, Hamilton recently became only the sixth driver to have completed more than 300 race starts but none of them have won a race after the crossing the 300 mark. The other five drivers are Barichello, Schumacher, Button, Raikkonen and Alonso.

Only two of them are active drivers, Hamilton and Alonso. Let’s see if either of them manages to break this record. That would be something special as crossing the 300 number automatically puts them at the fag end of their careers.

Cheers
