Thanks for the pics.

The WB registered Black-Yellow Esteem used to belong to Sourav Choudhuri. Any idea who rallys with it nowadays?

Dada, the car was sold long time back to a Team BHPian. Tom http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/members/tom.html

Sunny won the 1400cc INRC with this car IIRC (correct me if i am wrong)

Does the Vitara belong to Mr. Niaz Ali? (going by the foreign registration number)

OT - Just curious about the HR , DL , HP registered cars. Were they driven down from the respective states only for this rally?

yes, these are modified for rallies and sports. it cannot be driven as a commuter cars on normal roads. these cars can hit 180-200kmph easily. forget other state cars, one Australian came with his Australian registered grand vitara only for this rally.

Thanks Planet, I did not knew that Tom now owns it.

The SWB Vitara belongs to the legendary Niaz Ali. He is now settled in Australia. He flew the GV all the way, to participate in this rally. I think the car will stay back for the next Raid.

Hey nice ones bro. The first pic of the thread (the esteem) belongs to one of my closest friends.
BTW does anyone have the results of the rally ? How many entries were there in each format etc?

Now the car has been sold to Rattan @tatsago, FYI & the GV could have been sailed, rather than flown with the thought economy in my mind!

I think you didn't get my point , what i was trying to enquire is that did the owners of these 3 cars drive down from their respective states only for this rally like the Australian guy flew down his GV.

Also when you say that "cannot be driven as a commuter cars on normal road" - do you mean that they are not street legal or is it some other reason?

Pardon me for my ignorance.

to be frank i too dont know in which way the brought the car for the rally. the reason it cannot be driven like commuter car is its highly tuned, these cars give maximum mileage of 4-5kmpl, more wear and tear will be there, and heats up very soon, not suitable for long journeys.
