KTM 200 launched @ Malaysia

KTM 200 Duke Launched in Malaysia

Looks like they can price it cheaper here, ~ R15 pricing.

Re: KTM 200 launched@ Malaysia

That's crazy. But its probably easier considering that the brand and dealer outlets are already established. PS: looks like a big FZ16.

Re: KTM 200 launched@ Malaysia

The bike does look beefed up. The split seats look comfy enough and the ride tall. The only sore point seems to be the "in your face" Duke sticker.
As CBR has garnered high waiting period and R15 eating into P220 sales, Bajaj will surely bring the Duke at around Rs.1.1-1.3L bracket. As N650r showed, they can be aggressive in pricing when required.
But will it be branded Duke by KTM or a variant of Pulsar by Bajaj? They might just re-brand it considering KTM is not as popular as a Ninja.

P.S.:Why not consider the bike as a smaller FZ1 rather than bigger FZ16!

Re: KTM 200 launched@ Malaysia

I highly doubt that they will be doing any sort of rebranding, this will be launched as a KTM only, as the targeted audience is well aware of what KTM is, and all about. Apart from this a good product launched at a good price will always get its share of customer e.g Hyosung Comet.

My 2 Cents
Think the Duke will compete head on with FZ16 rather than R 15 or CBR. R15 & CBR are completely different genre bikes which are sort of sport bikes when compared to the Duke.

Re: KTM 200 launched@ Malaysia

This should have more bhp/torque than FZ. Yamaha look out!

Re: KTM 200 launched@ Malaysia

In terms of BHP/torque it will be near to the CBR250 than the FZ for sure.
But I think it will have a segment of it's own.
It will be for people who want performance in small package sans the fairing!

@safari_lover: You are right, DUKE won't be targeted at the masses and is more likely to be available in ProBiking showrooms only. At a price of 1+ lacs i don't think it will cause any flutter in the FZ camp. However, it will be great if Yamaha comes up with a 250cc version of FZ.

AFAIK, once the KTM's are launched Probiking outlets will focus on sales of Kawasaki and KTM's only. The bajaj bikes will not be sold through probiking.

Makes sense, that is why Bajaj has two different types of showrooms, unlike any other 2 wheeler company in India.

Nice one!

Agree with most when they say it'll be sold through Probiking showrooms. I hope they do a 650R rather than a 250R with the Duke!

Re: KTM 200 launched @ Malaysia

This bike will definitely eat into the shares of R15, atleast initially. Given the number of R15's on road, initially this Duke would be a hit. Though sales will gradually settle down leaving each bike with its own share of customers. Things will change when the uplifted R15 comes out.

I liked the hanging avengers in the pro biking showrooms I hope they give avenger an engine uplift soon, and bring them back to the pro biking showrooms.

I'm so disappointed that the front fendor is so street bikish!!! I would have loved to have it placed slightly more enduro like. :(

Isn't this supposed to be primarily a street bike? I think it is just perfect for our roads.

And the article mentions that it might be released soon. A reliable little birdie has spoken about the launch not later than the next year's Delhi Auto Expo. So, there's still time.

Exactly, a street-bike perfect for our roads (or lack of it)... , if you want to go around explaining that it is not an off-road bike. In fact, I would be surprised if they do not market it as one.

Is your little birdie the KTM CEO, by any chance ? Anyway, the KTM CEO did confirm that the Duke 200 would be launched at the Auto Expo.
