Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2012

The Dio looks classy and I loved the new color on the CBR 250! They should have released the color when the bike was getting introduced. I am sure there would have been many takers for it.

Good that they are launching a 150cc verion of it. R15 is going to feel some heat from it and the KTM 200, as they will be in the same price bucket. When is Bajaj going to launch the new Pulsars???

Isnt there a 2012 edition of the Activa? The current one has been in the market for the past 2 years.

Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2012

What will be the expected mileage figure of CBR150 ?

Dio looks good but not in every angle.

No mention of the mileage yet. But since it is a performance oriented bike, you can expect something between 35-40 in the city which the R15 2.0 also manages.

Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2012

I like the fact that small changes like the front screen coming down till the headlamp (almost) and the stubby exhaust can give so much character to the CBR 150R. Suddenly, my 250R looks all lazy and laid back to me. Anyway, good product by Honda. My only qualm with the 150R remains the 12.66Nm of torque.

The Dream Yuga should really boost the sales of Honda in the commuter segement, for people who find the Twister a bit too funky.

P.S. Good strategy by Honda on the HRC themed 250R. Only if they can put together their after-sales soon. (Coming from a 250R owner who has been waiting for his spares for more than 4 months.)

The new Dio is expected anytime soon now.
I suggest you go and check with the dealership.
Honda at the launch mentioned that the Dio would be available since Jan 2012.

Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2012

DIO: kinda disappointed that a sporty looking scooter still uses the archaic link front suspension and not a telescoping unit. Styling looks so much like the new Yamaha scooter! what gives?? Giving them a C for this.

CBR 125: Fantastic proven product and I'm eagerly looking forward to CBR vs YZF comparisons. Pricing should be v.close to the R15. CBR250 owners will not be too happy about the way it looks. Too lazy to make a unique headlight. C'mon?

This is nice. Atleast HMSI showed more focus than its bigger brother!

Which is that model sitting next to Dream Yuga?

Thats perfect timing, as I was planning to replace a 6 years Dio at home. Though we were initially planning to go for Activa, the new Dio looks much better + has a better engine specs and nice Boot storage too.

  • 18 Liter under seat luggage box.
  • The refreshed version looks different from the older Dio. This will provide something new to the customers unlike the usual sticker and paint job facelift by manufacturers.
I'm still getting used to the looks but I'm beginning to like this. As for the current generation Dio, I fell in love with it instantly when I first saw it! How's that for a first impression?

* The 2012 Dio 'looks' narrower than the outgoing model.
* Still missing telescopic fork setup for the front!!
* A digital instrument cluster would've gelled very well with the overall nature of the new Dio, but we've got absolutely no complaints about anything analogue
* The headlamp cluster looks like its bulging out. The one in the older Dio appeared completely flush with the body.
* The pillion's footrest was virtually non-existent in the older Dio. Nice to see this part more defined!
* Similar strategy to the previous launches - Honda lauched the old Activa first with the 102cc power plant and then the Dio with the same engine. Now, the tried and tested 110cc motor is finally on the Dio as well.
* The tail lamp cluster is edging towards clichéd - The shape reminds me of other current scooter models (Scooty Streak, TVS Wego) - I'm definitely not saying they look similar! The old Dio had looks that were radical all around, and completely different for the time.
* Deeper cuts to the body.
* Tubeless tyres are a welcome addition.
* The Combi-brake is an essential feature.

In all aspects, the outgoing model looks so flush all around while the newer one looks more cutting edge.

Its time to bid goodbye to the legendary old Dio (SCV100), arguably one of the best looking scooters, ever.

Attaching some comparisons I created using product photographs from the internet.

Cheers!

- Abhishek

Dio launched with a sticker price of 42632/- . Claimed mileage of 55 KMPL. Some websites claiming ARAI mileage as 66.7 . Now thats something !

I always loved the DIO in this segment. Activa always seemed a bit too bulky and of course - too common.

At this price i hope we see more Dio's than Activa's rolling out

Looking for a scooter..

What a scooter! I think this is the best package available in the scooter segment today, Honda Dio 2012!

Unfortunately, It's my wife looking for a bike. Her primary concern is "feet touching ground" she is about 5 ft 4in, so far Pleasure is the only one she felt good in terms of height, she could manage alright with the Dio, did not feel it was heavy, feels it looks more like a bike

Ofcourse, safety is primary. But here are my worries

1. Its just 3K less than a Dio and looks half the bike
2. After sales experience with Hero- anyone with Pleasure- inputs please?

I wish there was another choice in the Scooty/Pleasure segment, any suggestions?
