Yes mate safety comes first. Glad that you have made a wise decision. I would also request you to invest in protective riding gears like a good quality safety certified helmet, armoured riding jacket, knee guards, armoured riding gloves and riding boots. You can buy these at one go or in stages depending on your budget. The beauty of TeamBHP is you will find every information related to automobiles and personal safety under one roof. Kindly have a look at "The Riding Gear" thread to get an idea.

BTW Navin, I just stumbled on your tb ownership thread yesterday. Wow , I don't dare to suggest that any other individual in India has 5 Enfields in the garage.
Thanks for the appreciation mate, like people tell about us mallus. "Jeep and Bullet run in our veins like blood."

My humble entry into Enfeildom is scheduled for tomorrow.
Let me be the first to welcome you to the RE fraternity. Owning a RE will be a journey of a lifetime. Enjoy and congrats in advance.

Re: Help with decoding Royal Enfield Bullet Chassis & Engine Numbers

Thanks Navin for welcoming me to the field of Royals.

Will keep up dating . The past fifteen days since the first ever bullet ride in my life has been so fast paced, that I barely slept at night. As D day approaches, I must thank you Navin, Mr Ravi, and Common_man for giving me the confidence to plonk my money where my heart was.

As with most enfields, I expect my fair share of teething troubles / niggles on the ride ahead. But with learned Enfield Gurus with an ocean of knowledge at their command, I feel lucky and confident.

A big respect filled thanks to t bhp and its fantastic members.

You're most welcome mate. Ask me even after having four Royal Enfield's in my garage I was not getting sleep and was awaiting to lay my hands on the Thunderbird500 after the booking.

Do share your delivery experience and of course some pics of that Brand New Tbird500 when you start your thread.

Re: Help with decoding Royal Enfield Bullet Chassis & Engine Numbers

Could somebody help me in decoding the vin of my newly acquired TB: ME3U3S5C1GK489185.

I am confused with GK, which as per my understanding should be read as 2016 Nov.

Experts advice will be most appreciated.

Re: Help with decoding Royal Enfield Bullet Chassis & Engine Numbers

I believe "K" is September. At least is was September in 2011 when my RE was made.

G = 2016; K = October. 'I' is ignored in VIN.
