Lovely road man. Love to see him bounce off the limiter even in each higher gear. How rarely we get to do it here.

Me wants that wind shield ..... but in clear acrylic preferably.

Cant wait now man .....
And I just "happened" to play that idle on a few humongous loud speakers.

So what the heck is up with the launch?

re: KTM Duke 390 - 375cc, 45 PS, 150 kg

Heard from a friend the other day that D390 will be priced ~ 2.5L on-road Hyderabad. He got the news from the KTM guys when he went to have his bike serviced, so not sure how reliable it is.

The KTM website however doesn't say anything on the 390 launch in India. Duke 200 was updated months before it launched(with Coming Soon sign). Their website isn't consumer friendly anyways.

As said in the thread, 29kmpl claimed FE. Goes at 100kmph on 5000rpm in the 6th gear.

Move the mouse cursor to Naked Bike tab, it does say coming soon to India.

re: KTM Duke 390 - 375cc, 45 PS, 150 kg

The biggest apprehension for me is the engine heating. The heating up of Duke 200 itself is unbearable at times. Hope this issue is taken care of in the 390.

Oh yeah. my bad. Didn't check the tab. That's was wondering me. How can they not update when India is the one that supplies them to the rest of the world.

re: KTM Duke 390 - 375cc, 45 PS, 150 kg

KTM DUKE 390 NEW DETAILS Come In!! Indian Auto Journalist's are riding the KTM Duke 390 as we speak!!

* The Duke 390 features an all new gearbox with different gear ratios.

* The new 6 speed gearbox and different gear ratios will allow the Duke 390 to cope with the higher amount of power and torque that the 373cc engine of the motorcycle outputs.

* The Duke 390 sold in India will be shod with Metzeler M5 Sportec tyres.

* These tyres are said to be deliver better grip in the wet.

* The fact that KTM is choosing to go with Metzelers for the Duke 390 that’ll be sold in India is a change from the norm. The Duke 200 sold in India comes shod with MRF rubber even as export versions get Metzelers.

* The Duke 390 shares its crankcase castings with the Duke 200. However, the top end of the engine of the Duke 390 is all new unit.

* A forged piston and a chrome plated cylinder on the Duke 390 means that the cylinder is an all new item that displaces nearly 175cc more than the Duke 200′s engine.

* The KTM Duke 390 will come with ABS as standard and this ABS system is build by Bosch and can be switched on and off.

* The Duke 390′s true top speed is 160 Kph. But this time it won't hit limiter in top gear like Duke 200.

According to Overdrive, the Duke 390 may launch in 30-45 days. Actual deliveries may be in June.

We can now confirm that the ABS can indeed be disengaged. The cylinder is Nikasil coated and there are DLC-coated finger followers in the valve gear. The gearbox is all-new and the ratios indicate a tall sixth, which should make for a nice highway machine. The fuel injection is also more advanced than that on the 200, with a 46mm throttle body. Incredibly, the 390 Duke is rated at 29.4 kmpl, while the duke was rated at 31.2 kmpl.

The 200 Duke was the best-selling street motorcycle in Europe last year, and the 125 was the first & only 125 with ABS. Two more global KTM launches are coming in August and September, while October will see the presentation of the Super Duke R. It's a busy year ahead for KTM. The 390 will be the first KTM to be sold in all markets – 76 in all. KTM wants to bring younger bikers back into the fold.

That said, am relieved that the top end is around 168 kmph (105 mph). I was told by someone in the know last night to take auto mag reports of 160 kmph top end with a big pinch of salt.

So I guess 170 kmph is what we are going to get. But with better than expected mileage of 30 kmpl. That is true frugality for a bike with this kind of performance. An important factor when calculating touring range as well as wallet range.
