Looks very interesting. I am not sure a company, who would be spending so much in R&D on this product, would not have taken good care of the fact that it does not lead to any safety issues.

India or no India, this is one game changer invention.

I love it... If it comes to India (and if I can buy it) I will have it..

re: Skully's Android-powered Helmet with HUD. EDIT: Skully shuts down!

For the rear view camera part, i fail to understand how it can be used when there is a pillion rider as well. I agree it would work well when only the rider is present. The rest of the stuff like GPS, HUD etc looks quite nifty & usable.

Prashant

Features look great. Can anyone explain a bit more on the safety standards, say what helmet can that be compared to?

re: Skully's Android-powered Helmet with HUD. EDIT: Skully shuts down!

Did any of you apply to be a beta tester for this helmet? I'd applied many months back and received a mail some days back - "Skully AR-1 Beta Application Confirmation". This is what the email said

"Skully would like to thank you for applying to beta test the Skully AR-1, the world's first augmented reality motorcycle helmet. We sincerely appreciate your support and dedication to making the roads safer for riders everywhere. By applying to beta test the AR-1, you have taken the first step toward revolutionizing an industry.

We are constantly reviewing beta applications, and will notify selected riders on a rolling basis beginning in February. Riders can increase their visibility in the selection process by sharing Skully on Facebook and Twitter. For your reference, we have updated the FAQ on our website to address the most commonly asked questions surrounding the AR-1. The FAQ can be found here. If you don't see your question, please feel free to email us at connect@skullyhelmets.com.

Welcome to the ride."

Doing my part religiously - posting on Facebook and other social media sites. Lets hope that I get a chance to test it. Would be really awesome.

HUD (Head-up Display) for Motorcycle Helmets

After looking at the bluetooth supported headset for helmets thread and keeping in mind the HUD displays provided by BMW, I just put 2 and 2 together and googled it. Came up with the below search result.

Interesting concept and hope they get it into production.

Nuviz

Kickstarter for Nuviz

Some screenshots from the concept:

Googled some more, and found another one:
Skullysystems

Hope more work is done in this field.

Re: HUD (Head-up Display) for Motorcycle Helmets

With this being a relatively new technology for helmets, HUD in the safety gear would be exorbitantly priced?

Just for information, what is the pricing of a HUD helmet like the pic shown in the OP?

Re: HUD (Head-up Display) for Motorcycle Helmets

Just wondering what could be side effects? Won't this add more stress to the eyes? (changing the focus everytime to read the information in HUD and then focus back to the road) Incase of cars there is a considerable distance between eyes and the wind shield, but in this case it is very short.

Well, as far as I know, its not a HUD helmet. Its an attachment can be fitted into the existing helmet. And from what I have read, I suppose it will be launched from $400 onwards (roughly 20k INR).

Thanks!!

20K for an attachment seems pretty steep for normal use customers.

Also, will it not hamper visibility and concentration on road.
My humble submission is for two wheelers, this sort of fitments are best avoided due to road safety issues!!

Re: HUD (Head-up Display) for Motorcycle Helmets

Not as an attachment but part of the helmet itself - Skully is beta testing.
