I'm also excited for this bike but the horrible experiences that people are having wrt to the quality in the Duke 390 is making me think otherwise.

BTW, were the indicators mounted on the mirrors or near the fairings in the bike you tested and the bike you spotted today?

Doc,
Do you have any inside information as to when the 390 adventure would be rolled out? Please share any details that you might have on it.

The details are the same as the bike shown at EICMA. Indicators were on the mirror stalk.

No news yet bro. I am glued more to the 690 than the 390 frankly.

Re: Scoop! KTM Duke RC390 spotted testing

I've been following the RC 390 with some interest. I had a look at KTM's website for the RC 390. I noted with dismay, that the tank is only 9.5 litres! That's 1.5 litres less than the Duke 390. Bye, bye, all pretensions of touring.

It's a supersports. Why would you want to tour on something that's made to hunt corners and ignore straights? Might as well get a duke 390 then.

Yup. The Duke will take you to the pump 25 kms down the road from the RC.

Based on the pictures below, I suppose the production for RC390 and RC125 has started in full swing. Photos are said to be taken near Chakan Plant, Pune.

Could you please elaborate on the "horrible" experiences? Quote some examples, maybe?

Like the rims getting cracked and broken, oil leaks, engine oil and coolant mixing, engine failures etc. I'm just talking about the major ones. There are a lot more minor ones.

Re: Scoop! KTM Duke RC390 spotted testing

And there are a whole lot of happy buyers. I am one of those and one of those waiting for the RC390. Most of us here love the KTM and have not faced the list of issues you have mentioned. But most of us also have a bullet and we feel the 390 problems that you mentioned are less than say 1% of what we have seen in our bullets.

For those who like KTM, take my word, its a wonderful bike for a wonderful price and the spares are crazy cheap.

Never heard of any of those except the cracked rims which were attributed to improper tire pressure. A few issues out of thousands of bikes should not put you off. You'll never be able to buy a bike otherwise.

The issues I mentioned have been reported by many people through out the internet. Also, one more person, even with proper tyre pressure got both his rims cracked after a stone on the road hit his wheels apparently. The KTM Karnataka head himself has admitted that the rims have been made lighter to get better handling. They are good enough for European roads. But the rims are too fragile for the Indian roads. I can live with other issues but the thought of the rims cracking at high speeds due to some unseen pothole is very frightening and can turn fatal to the rider. I hope some third party rims which are strong are made available soon.

Re: Scoop! KTM Duke RC390 spotted testing

A cracked rim, or a catastrophic rim failure, even if 1 case in 1000000, is 1 case too many. Period. No politicaly correct way to say this guys. We as riders need to call a spade a spade.

Simply put, would you like to be that one in a million rider whose rim shears off the spokes when doing 100+?
