This makes things really interesting. I hope KTM comes up with the 390 Adventure real soon. I wonder how will other brands respond to this, especially Suzuki and Kawasaki. About time Bajaj stepped up it's game!

Re: New Bajaj Pulsar spied in Lonavala; sports 160 cc engine

This upgrade brings the P150 to levels of R15 in terms of power and highest performing of the bunch. But the R15 has a liquid cooled engine. What I am surprised at is how the Bajaj guys are able to push the engine to its limits without liquid cooling & any other fascinating tech stuff.

In all, I see an awesome 150CC bike being launched, which may be able to replicate the success levels of original P150.

Power does looks similar to R15, but for a naked bike, isn't the weight (144kg) too high?

My R15 v2.0 kerb weight is about 136kg

Weight seems to be high, But we are talking of Bajaj here. has come a long way since its original P150 (12 Bhp, 140 Kilos). Even with the high weight i feel this thing will a hoot to ride in the city and comparing it with a sharp handling tool like the R15 will not be fair. Bajaj wants high volume sales with this product and it will get that.

Pulsar ns160 has been launched at 1.02 Lac on road Mumbai.
I see no reason why anyone would buy this over the ns200. One of the very few low-VFM products from Bajaj in recent times.

Typical Bajaj style of ruining exclusivity of their own flagship products.
They have done this many times in the past with old Pulsars, Avengers, Discovers etc.

First launch a bike with higher capacity and exclusive features, and then slowly introduce countless cheaper and lower capacity iterations which look exactly the same as the higher variant and share most of the parts and features, except the engine.
Agreed that part sharing is inevitable for any company but that doesn't mean that every model should be a xerox copy of a higher variant.

What exclusivity do the buyers who bought the higher capacity flagship variants get, when within a year he sees cheaper and lower capacity iterations/replicas of his prized possession everywhere?

One may argue that you should be buying something like a Harley or Ducati if you need exclusivity and not Bajaj, a company who can't give any assurance about their product's life cycle or exclusivity.

Agreed, but still, what is the purpose of having a Pulsar for every 15cc gap?
Now they have Pulsar 135,150,160,180, 200 and 220.

What else does it serve other than creating confusion to both buyers and dealers?
Not to mention the product cannibalization it causes and the lack of ability of dealers and sales executives to focus on fewer products and promote their sales in a better way.

Honestly, I don't know what is the relevance of Pulsar 180 now, with this 160 NS launch.

And as usual, after a few months, they will just discontinue many of these variants, without any prior notice, just like what they did to their Discover series in the past.
Same thing was done to the Pulsar AS150 recently.
They discontinued it even before giving it sufficient time to evolve and establish as a successful model.
Imagine the plight of those few AS150 owners now!

Just wait for a year.We will get to see Dominar 125, Dominar 150 etc.
What else can we expect from Bajaj?
