A bit over the top styling I would say.. But then that must have been the idea. Something like the Mahindra XUV 500.
How else would one catch the attention of potential buyers? the RS should certainly stand out in a crowd (of R15's) at least.

Why isn't there a discussion about the design resemblance between Energica Ego- Electric Superbike and Pulsar RS200? "inspiration" will definitely be an understatement. Let the pictures do the talking. |
agree:
Plagiarism at its best!
Time for a game of spot the difference???

Ok.. lets consider that even if it was "inspired".. What Next?
Option 1: Ban The RS from this planet
Option 2: Appeal for a PIL
Option 3: Make sure BAL sacks the designers
Option 4: All of the above
For Your Kind Info: These Full Faired Pulsar design prototypes was there way back in 2009.. was the Energica Ego present there back then..? I am not sure
The Blue and White Version looks nice. Hope its made available after sometime

Payeng,
considering the very little amount of information available in the internet regarding the inception of Energica Ego, I cant really say which came out first, the chicken or the egg.lol: All I know is that Ego is a brilliant piece of modern engineering. The spec sheet itself is a testament.
Quoting their website,
"
At the heart of this thoroughbred is an electric motor which produces an astounding 195 Nm torque from 0 RPM to redline, an electronically limited 150 Mph (240 km/h) and a 0 – 100 time of under 3 seconds. All on just pennies’ worth of energy.
Top of the line racing components, onboard chargers, and a range of approximately 120 miles of real world riding, with a phase 4 DC charge to 85% in just 30 minutes."
There is also another exclusive version named
Ego 45 which is the numbered edition has carbon fibre fairings and a special shape featuring elements made with 3D printing technology and Windform materials, specially covered with a ceramic finish by English company Zircotec.
So in all fairness, I dont think such a pathbreaking motorcycle can be designed from ground up in such a short time, between 2009 and 2014. Maybe I am wrong and if our 2009 Pulsar prototype has inspired the world's first electric superbike, then I am the proudest of all Indians!:)

On the other hand- I can't find any similarities except for the way the projectors are mounted with their plastic housing seen.
Am I missing something?

This bike is priced attractively, but is overdesigned beyond my imagination! (close the point of being called ugly) - I have no idea how a design team which could bring Pulsar 200 NS can come out with this design! |
Well that's exactly what I thought too.. Its a bit too dressed up. Its after all only a 200cc bike. And as to how they came up with the design, you may want to check out the Energica Ego. Its an electric superbike.
lol:
Edit: I should probably gone through the entire threads before posting stuffs.. Sorry...

Google any link/image for the Energica Ego from 2009. I couldn't. Let me know if anyone can.
But have to say that the projectors are eerily similar in design on both bikes though.
Guys you are all talking about no abs in rear (rather the single channel abs). I was just wondering what the sensor in rear wheel is doing here in the above pic? Could it be something optional then? If not, then Bajaj has not attended to the biggest problem of 200 which is the rear slip.
To me the design is an overkill. It isnt sharp as a R15 and looks rather bulky like a Fazer.
Me to feels it's a bit overdone bit I had loved the CS 400 from the auto show, so it goes to show that the bikes that were shown are more or less the production models! Wow that's cool. Egarly awaiting the cs 400!
P.s.-overdone or not it's gonna sell by the bucket loads-Baja
Bajaj is spot on with the pricing and design considering the aam junta!
As a owner of first Yamaha R15, I can say that we Indians (girls especially) will give bikes (and the riders) a second look if they are visually bulky. I have forgotten how many girls in my office have exclaimed what a 'big' bike I ride when its actually a 150cc bike and weighs less than Pulsar 150.
Yes, the stickers are overdone, I would remove it immediately if it was possible, but for some people, it is necessary. Apart from that, a good product from an Indian company. It is going to take some time for Bajaj to attain that level of Yamahas and Hondas, but a mighty good start. Hope TVS also launches something like this.

Tvs and the BMW partnership sounds promising. They are apparently working on a 300 cc single cylinder which churns out about 30 bhp . Then there's the draken. I really love the apache RTR. And hence i have reason to wait eagerly for the TVS to finally unleash its "beasts". lol:

As long as whatever they develop is a bottom massager, it will not be a big hit!
Hope the collaboration with BMW will help in the refinement part
Issue - Design overload.
Root Cause Analysis - Someone from Bajaj thought this was too bland, and went along with the sticker overjob. :D
Preventive Action - Bajaj, please restrict him to sticker jobs on Discover and Platina series.
Second picture source overdrive.
