Re: Bajaj Pulsar AS200 spotted testing EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 91,550

I was going thru some pics on xBHP and is it only me who thinks there is a provision on the swing arm of AS150 for rear disc brake? Its like they planned to put a disc brake and then decided against it!!

Absolutely agree. If they'd have named it the ST (Sport Touring, like Ducati did), it'd have been more accurate; i.e., a sporty road-touring bike; the clip-ons are certainly higher and if the footpegs are more forward, it will prove a more tolerable bike on long rides than the 200NS (which isn't saying much).

But if anyone's idea of "Adventure" includes the Greater Himalayas, this is going to be a severe disappointment: Road-type tyres, road-type fuel tank, road-type suspension, a short-stroke engine with torque peaking at a ridiculous 8,000rpm, small front wheel... Not really suited in any way to serious adventure riding.

I remain incredulous that with so many voices crying out for a REAL Indian dual-sport, and with Bajaj's proven ability to innovate and produce a diverse variety of machinery, that they couldn't have pushed further ahead than this. I really expected that THEY would be the ones to finally give so many people what they are longing for... but it's looking like it'll instead be RE, whose upcoming Himalayan seems to be shaping up a little more intentional / purposeful.

I think the provision is for the rear tire hugger as they normally don't show it during the media launches.

While removing my dead for a replacement, I found this rubber thing just sitting inside.

Any idea what this is for? I think its to stop some rattle somewhere, but where, I'm not sure.

Yes it is.

It is the part that goes into the front of the seat and prevents it from moving around when inserted below the fuel tank bolt.
