But does it look like the videographer, in his enthusiasm of the "scoop", nearly force the rider off the road a couple of time? Just let the poor guy do his job. :Frustrati

Bajaj previewed the SS 400 concept at last year's Delhi auto expo. While the concept is yet to enter production, the smaller SS 200 has been spied on test for several months now. The motorcycle was seen in markets like Turkey before the company officially revealed its name as the RS 200. The fully-faired Pulsar has already entered production as Bajaj is expecting heavy demand and fresh images show the RS 200 with the AS 200 which has also entered production.

While Bajaj has confirmed the launch of the RS 200, the AS 200 awaits an official launch announcement. The images indicate that while the RS 200 will begin sales soon, the AS 200's launch may not be too far away.

Yep it can't be a Pulsar 220 upgrade since the Pulsar 200NS despite being a much superior machine could not replace the Pulsar 220. Reason: Pulsar 220 "looks" bigger yet and is available for slightly lesser money the Pulsar 200NS.

I guess what you meant to say was this could replace the 220.

Replacing the 200NS with the AS200 makes sense actually.. if priced at the same price as the 200NS, the AS200 would appear to be quite a lot value for money.

.. it could also then replace the Pulsar 220 as well.. since it will now have equal amount and much better looking "plastic".

Also since Pulsar 150NS is ready to be launched and it looks quite identical to the 200NS.. replacing the 200NS with both these models (AS200 and 150NS) makes sense. Existing 200NS owners needn't worry for spares since it (AS200) will most likely be the same bike.

200NS and 200AS both serve a difference purpose and that's the reason Bajaj is launching these variants. 200NS is a very easy to ride bike in the city. It is still to be seen how easy would the 200AS would be. It would be good for highways for sure.

The only difference would most likely be the fixed half fairing.. In India our bikes (at least the ones that are priced till 2 lakhs) have to serve one single purpose.. i.e to commute.

R15, FZ, Pulsar 220, Karizma, Royal Enfield's... are all basically commuters.. in Price, function and affordability (fuel efficiency, running cost).

For example:

>> The Yamaha R15 is "marketed with an Image" of a Race/Track bike..
>> In the same way the Fazer is "marketed with an Image" of a "Touring Bike"..

.. but we all know (and see that) they are majorly bought and used by the majority as bikes for commute.

The only reason why these variants are being launched by Bajaj is expecting and hoping that they will sell in more numbers, expand the market, make more money.

The Bajaj Pulsar AS200 has reached dealerships. The launch of the bike is expected to take place on April 14, 2015.

If its just a swap of the front fairing, I might go for it and install it on my NS.
From the pics, it looks I may have to get the clips on as well.
Will check it out in person.

time to get it Leh tested :)

Although the finish of the new pulsar's look way better. What's the point of naming a version 'adventure sports ' when there are no bits which refer to an adventure machine. They have even changed the rear fender/ number plate holder and now it looks like the previous gen pulsar from the back.

Bajaj confirms new Pulsar launch on April 14. Will it be the Pulsar AS200?

After launching the updated Bajaj CT100, Platina 100 ES and the Pulsar RS200, Bajaj will now most probably be launching the Pulsar AS200 in India on April 14, 2015. This announcement of a new Pulsar to be launched on April 14 was made by Bajaj Auto's MD Rajiv Bajaj in an interview with Moneycontrol.

Its an adventure in itself to buy this bike no?

This is another joke by the makers in calling it an Adventure bike.

Even basic features like Engine Sump Guard, Headlight Mesh, Bigger Petrol Tank, Phone Charging Socket are missing...

Good and bad IMO.

Good: because of the styling of the fairing is very handsome and could appeal to the people who don't like the new Karizma's. This should make cruising at 80 to 100 much relaxed than the NS with the fairing on the AS. Affordable touring bike's. The new series of Pulsars with the awesome pricing brings the term "Value For Money" a whole new meaning for Indian bikers. Bajaj continues to bring models with so many premium offerings at such prices that the competition simply looks so expensive and overpriced. The 150 AS was a surprise as the much talked about bike everywhere was the NS 150.

Bad: because both the 150 and 200 look identical and this takes away the exclusivity, which is as usual "Bajaj". One has to see the rear cowl to make out the difference. Also the 150 Discover and 150 Pulsar AS indeed look cousins in the true sense now :D. No ABS or fuel injection (sans 200 at least) even as an option (people are spoilt these days to have more bike features :)). As mentioned by ku69rd, no engine guard, phone charging socket, bigger petrol tank etc, all have been overlooked for an "Adventure Sports Tourer".

Bajaj Auto has launched the AS150 and AS200 motorcycles in India at Rs. 79,000 and Rs. 91,550 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.
