Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2016

Also 10.2 is going to take on road price to close to 12L. What was yamaha thinking. The z800 is less than 9 on road in cities like Chennai after they reduced price by 55k earlier.

And spec for spec the z800 is a very interesting bike and unless you are a Yamaha enthusiast I fear sanity will prevail and z800 will continue to outsell.

My bet is to wait for Yamaha to take the CKD route if they plan to sell in decent numbers.

Z1000 starts at 12 I guess ex show room

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2016

Yamaha has launched the all-new Roadster Motard - MT-09, priced at Rs. 10,20,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). This bike will be available at selected dealerships across the country.

A full set of pics have just been added to the 1st page of this thread!

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2016

Thanks S2. If only triple had the normal tuned engine. Overall i am half happy and half disappointed at this announcement. Ligher by solid 40Kgs compared to the Z800, has all the options comparable to the z800 and yet its a yamaha. All it needs is a slip on Twin brothers and you can hear it roar.

Happy that they finally launched this. Disappointed that they are not giving that stonking Night Fluo option, priced above both triple and z800, being CBU the spares are going to be very high and unless you know your stuff and can do basic maintenance we are looking at much higher ownership cost.

But its slowly sinking in that FZ1 probably will be rested for its price and poor performance in mid range and the MT-09 is ideally taking over that slot in India purely from price point and stonking performance.

MT09 is lighter, has TC, Riding Mode and ABS. I wish they priced it in region of 9L. Z800 will continue to sell in good numbers. If Yamaha wants to sell MT 09 in good numbers then they have to reduce price and they can do it by opting CKD route which will allow them to price between 8-9L.

Import price of MT09 is more than Z1000/N1000. Wish Kawasaki reduces price of these bikes below 10L

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2016

The advantage of MT09/FZ09 was that a great bike at low price is completely taken away buy launching at that price point.

I was really hoping the price point to be around 8~9, I love the bike but disappointed or rather heart broken.

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2016

Sad to see no 600s. They can easily get the FZ6R to be build here. If Honda can, Yamaha can too. It needs commitment which I don't think they are willing.

The R6 is not the same 650's you see from Kawasaki or suzuki or honda. The R6 is costlier even in the US. Comparison - R6 Costs close to 11K (And this will translate after import and CBU to close to 14L)

Fz6R is the next best option

The Ray ZR is a stunner. I wonder what it would be priced at. Crossing or almost reaching a Lakh is my estimate, with so much dressing up.

Yes, I doubt if the 600 supersports will have big demand in India considering the cost. FZ6R will the easiest to build and market for India considering Honda and Kawasaki has. But the FZ6R needs some serious upgrading especially as it has no ABS yet in some markets.

Actually that bike does need anything expect a bump in power. In stock avatar the bike is still so much fun to ride and its a yamaha. I just sold mine but a simple comparison between even my KTM390 was the way the bike was so balanced. Check the video below. Its a super fun bike for city and twisties as well and has power in all the gears.

R6 is a stonker and so is Fz6. Fz6r is a detuned version

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2016

Of course Yamaha in India has an all new character after FZs. Seems like they are bringing in a lot of bikes in the CBU route.

Not sure how they will do in the market give that this option naturally jacks up the pricing due to the duties that have to be paid. Overall an interesting line up there showcasing their two wheeler prowess!

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2016

Contrary to the "We are young" theme of Yamaha, there is a rumoured launch of a 110cc bike tomorrow alongside a scooter. The bike may be a derivative of its Saluto commuter which sits in the 125cc space. Would be happy to be proved wrong if it succeeds in exciting the young crowd something that the Honda Twister did a few years back.

The scooter apparently is expected to be the Ray ZR which might be a saving grace to that theme. I know that theme might have been limited to the Auto Expo event, but still..

#rant over.
