Rumour: Bajaj Dominar to be exported to Australia

A recent media report suggests that Bajaj Auto Limited (BAL) will begin exporting motorcycles to Australia. The Indian bike manufacturer’s flagship motorcycle - Dominar 400 will be the company’s first offering in the Australian market.

At present, Bajaj Auto's export markets include countries in Latin America and South-East Asia. While exports account to 45% of the company’s total volumes, in August 2017, less than 300 units of Dominar 400 were exported. The company expects this figure to rise once sales kick off in Australia.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 was launched in India in December 2016. Locally, the company dispatches around 1500 units on an average per month. It uses a 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine based on the KTM 390 Duke's powerplant. It produces 34.5 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 35 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch.

The Dominar gets 43 mm telescopic front forks and an adjustable mono shock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 320 mm and 230 mm disc brakes in the front and rear respectively. The bike rides on 17-inch rims shod with 110/70 section front tyres and 150/60 section rubber at the rear.

Re: Rumour: Bajaj Dominar to be exported to Australia

This would be a great move if Bajaj can pull it off. The Australian market being a developed market would be so much more competitive than the regular export destinations. Building a brand name there would be the first step into launching Bajaj as a truly international bike manufacturer.

Drive on,
Shibu.

Oh my I was thinking about the Dominar and how it would be a perfect city cum highway bike in Australia. I hope they price it realistically here.
