BS 6 Honda Shine launched at Rs 67,857/- ; Gets 6 year(3 + 3) warranty package

Honda launches 2018 CB Shine SP, Livo & Dream Yuga-2020hondacbshinebs6launchprice.jpg
  • Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has launched the new Shine BS6 (without ‘CB’ tag) at Rs 67,857 ex-showroom, with a host of key changes and updates.
  • The new Honda Shine BS6 comes under the brand’s #AQuietRevolution campaign which has introduced the patented ACG starter motor technology that promises a jolt-free cranking. On the other hand, the new Swing Back feature virtually allows the engine to rotate mildly in the opposite direction for the piston to make a ‘running start’. Put in simple terms, the engine can start with minimal effort. The Start Solenoid acts as an automatic choke system and promises a one-time starting procedure at all conditions.
  • The new BS6-compliant 125cc engine comes with Programmed Fuel Injection or PGM-FI which ensures better refinement and 14% more fuel efficiency.
  • Other features include an engine kill switch, pass switch, DC headlamp, 5-step adjustable rear suspension and the brand’s proven Combi-Brake System (CBS) with Equalizer. The instrument console has been tweaked a bit and the motorcycle gets black alloy wheels.
  • Compared to the BS4 model, the new Honda Shine gets 5mm higher ground clearance, 19mm longer wheelbase and better overall stability. The seat has become longer by 27mm and offers much more comfort and convenience.
  • Honda has introduced a 6-year warranty package (3 years standard + 3 years optional extended) for the new BS6-compliant Shine.

Looks like honda has taken all the 'kill-switch' bashing very seriously. Now, their entire lineup is equipped with one
They are really upping their game in terms of features, and that too usable ones.Honda products are offering the best package in the commuter segment, atleast for now. Well done, Honda. Better late than never.

That's what I thought too when BS6 SP125/Activa came with one but quickly realized they are giving it only for FI models (as they won't shut off when fallen to their side). I wonder whether these models have a roll-over sensor - that's a must too.

Affirmative. They do sense roll-over.

Re: Honda launches 2018 CB Shine SP, Livo & Dream Yuga

My 2013 dream yuga that has run 72k km. Now there's white smoke from the exhaust. A local mechanic said the engine has started consuming engine oil. What are my options? Should i sell the bike, or should i recondition/replace the engine. Experts, please advise.

Re: Honda launches 2018 CB Shine SP, Livo & Dream Yuga

A simple bore kit change and reconditioning of the engine head with new seals, o rings and gaskets may prolong the life of the motorcycle for another 70k odd kms. Go OE or OEM for parts.

OE bore kit w pistons - 3k odd
Gasket kit, rubber seals and o rings - 3to 400
Clutch plate, sprocket change, brake shoe change 2k(less if parts are procured from OEM supplier like FCC, minda, Swiss, rolon, IFB etc)
Labor - depends upon the mechanic.

The same bike bought new will cost atleast 7-10x of what you will spend on refurbishment. Also the newer bikes, being bs6 are unnecessarily complicated with ecu, sensors and fuel pumps etc etc.
