Re: 2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh

CBR 250R used to 10 kmph higher in 5th gear. That is near about 145. 6th would have taken it close to 160.

Re: 2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh

The Honda CBR 250R is a good motorcycle. Negligible vibrations, pliant suspension and a fairing without an overtly commited riding position make it one of the better sports tourers on our market. The problem is, there exists a motorcycle that can do all the aforementioned things while managing to look much better and being more powerful. It's known as the Honda CBR300R.

It's a shame that the CBR300R is available worldwide except India, since 2015!

Ideally Honda should have launched the CBR300R as an ABS model at a similar price range as the Honda CBR250R ABS version. The performance would be much closer to the Apache 310 and coupled with Honda's excellent refinement and reliability, it would have swayed a lot of Apache 310 buyers. Even I would line up to buy one as an upgrade to my Gixxer.

Honda has really missed a golden opportunity to regain the space it has ceded to its rivals in the 250cc-500cc segment. Seems as if Honda is content only updating and selling Activas, they have completely forgotten us enthusiasts. I am very, very disappointed

Info from some internet portal - not sure how genuine!

OT
Isn't that CBR250RR ?

Its a different animal all together and as per some websites, its around 5 Lakh for ABS version in Japan (I may be wrong also)

Re: 2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh

Cant entirely blame Honda though, as the chief competitor to this hot-looking CBR250RR is the Yamaha R3, Ninja 300, Benelli 302r and the likes, all of which have consistently dismal sales figures. So why would Honda invest and take the pain to launch this, knowing that the sales won't be good anyway.

PS: The market gets what it asks for (Activa )

Yes, its CBR250RR, it has one additional "R", god knows what that means, but the Indian model looks really ugly. The earlier version was much better.

Re: 2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh

RR = Race Replica. RR symbolises the bike to be as close to race bikes as it legally and practically can be. Similarly, CB is for City Bike in Honda.

Please feel free to correct if I am wrong

Re: 2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh

The reason why the original (early to mid 90s) 250rr is talked of in hushed tones is because it was an I4 redlining at IIRC 18000 rpm.

The new rr is a (essentially run of the mill) twin.

Re: 2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh

Guys,

I purchased the new Honda CBR ABS last evening.

The last time I had a bike was more than a decade ago. The bug of a 250 CC/higher CC machine was always there, dormant all these years and now has been biting me for a while. I took a year, nearly, to make this purchase after considering the TNT25, FZ25, TVS 200/310 and the others.

I wanted an ABS at any cost and it just happened last evening. I was at the showroom and got redirected to another one which had just received one Bike with ABS. I have ridden about 25 kms so far and everything is as expected of a Honda.

I am just glad i have a good enough bike though I am aware that there could be better bikes in the market in the near future (if not already!!!).

I like what little i experienced in the form of Handling and Simplicity (or is it lacking features!!!).

In some ways i feel guilty that just when we think we need more/better, these Manufacturers add a trick or two to their existing armor and some of us think it is good enough to purchase one and in the process, endorse their thinking.

But hey, i wanted to have some fun in my life and so i am back to Biking after a decade long gap!!!

Regards
Bharath

Re: 2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh

Eyeing to buy this bike ahead of the Dominar and TBTS.

1. Will it be good for a mix of City and Highway ride?
2. How is the pillion comfort/support?
3. Will this be a better upgrade for Unicorn 150cc (2006 version)
4. Can this be used for short family drives (son+wife on board)

Haven't ridden the new one but the old one was decent enough.

Absolutely. After experiencing HONDA's smoothness its hard to switch to other brands, maybe except suzuki but then they dont have any bike in that segment currently.

Personally I never advocate having any more than 2 at a time. With all sorts of heroes in our roads, its always safer to use car/cab for family(3 or more) runs.

Yes. This bike is perfect for both City and Highway. You will enjoy more on the Highways though as you will notice the heat a bit less there.

Good compared to a bike such as R15 and Dominar. Not as good as TBTS. You can try to change to a better seat if pillion comfort is you primary concern. There are good options available for sure.

Yes for sure. Same Honda quality with better performance in every aspect.

Yes but do not recommend. Front suspension is soft and in cases when you break hard, you might bend in the front. Risky for you to balance with the weight of your wife and son leaning on your body from your back. And it is a strict 'No No' to make your kid sit at the front. For this criteria, TBTS would be a better option.

Good to know that.

Agree and especially CBR with its tank design. But I am going for this fairing bike only on my sons insist, he wants a sports bike which goes faster than a car
So occasionally a drive with him is all what I need, for rest commutes have my wife's Wego
