Re: Royal Enfield teases new Bobber ahead of 2018 EICMA

HOAX OR TRUTH: Site says it will be a 830 cc Cruiser

Here are the highlights:

  1. Will be a prototype
  2. The engine comes out of Eicher Motors’ now-defunct alliance with Polaris Industries.
  3. The cruiser will be powered by a liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine with a precise displacement of close to 834cc.
  4. The powertrain has been developed to produce peak power output in the range of 80-90bhp.

Could be true indeed!

Royal Enfield is known to be working on four new platforms -

Platform J - Next generation of domestic motorcycles. 350 - 500cc.
Platform P - The upcoming 650 platform - Interceptor and Continental 650s.

Platform Q - Motorcycles rivalling the likes of Triumph Thruxton.
Platform K - Even bigger motorcycles, above 700cc.

We've already seen the results of the P platform. This could very well be the first concept preview of the Q or K platforms.

Now Autocar India says it's not only a twin, but a VTwin motor -

Quote:
“The company will take the covers off an all-new motorcycle powered by the biggest engine any Royal Enfield had in the past couple of decades. It will be a prototype cruiser powered by a liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine with a precise displacement of close to 834cc. The engine is understood to be BS VI-compliant already. The long-wheelbase cruiser is going to be Royal Enfield’s flagship offering for the global as well as home markets in the foreseeable future,” disclosed a source aware of the development who prefers to stay anonymous, at this point.

Himalayan with a bigger engine would be the answer for that perfect touring bike for India.

Re: Royal Enfield teases new Bobber ahead of 2018 EICMA

Guys,
I might have seen this bike yesterday near Nelamangala. it was Shiney Burgundy / Maroon coloured.
and the exhaust note was that of a rumble and was very pleasing. and infact it was the reason for me to see the bike.
It was followed by 2 Himalayan's. I initially thought it was "indian scout" but it did not have the flaring similar to the scout.

Another teaser, this time reavealing a little more

The twin exhaust + floating single seat evokes a slightly more hardcore image than thought before.

Any guesses as to what type of twin this will be? V or parallel?

Its a VTwin.

Did some edit on this image to reveal what they have hidden. They have masked the engine details black, so can only reveal the bike. Here it is -

The (grainy picture of ) Royal Enfield Bobber 883 -

The VTwin shape is kindof evident in the way they have masked the engine area. Must say - I like this bold new direction of Royal Enfield!

Thanks a ton for the top class forensic work here
Also this model screams 'prototype / concept'.
No way this goes into production.

However - this is the part I'm not sure of!

Sid Lal has made it clear that he is not afraid to take on the big boys. Its already public that they are working on two platforms to take them on, that sit above the 650 twins.

And this is EICMA, the world stage - I doubt if RE, in its present high after the media success of the Interceptor, will just go in there with a concept without plans of making it into production.

Re: Royal Enfield teases new Bobber ahead of 2018 EICMA

Im surprised by the lack of excitement around these teaser images from Royal Enfield. From being the butt of all jokes two wheeler related, they are on the cusp of launching the exciting 650s and now this. Add bar end mirrors and some nice dark metallic paint schemes. Mama mia, that will be a looker.

While the big global players are trying to go down in engine capacity and dominate, RE is looking to punch above its weight class. Exciting times indeed.

Re: Royal Enfield teases new Bobber ahead of 2018 EICMA

The launch happened a while ago. Watched part of it on Royal Enfields Insta page. It's based off RE's old V-twin. Wondering what else that engine is going to be part of.

It's the KX Concept with a 838cc liquid cooled V-twin that powers this concept bike. It is a tribute to (in other words - inspired by) the original 1930 Royal Enfield KX that was powered by an air-cooled 1138cc V-twin.
