Re: Bajaj Avenger 220 | Engine cutting off after a cold start.

Can't stop the itching hands from fiddling! Haven't been able to buy the intake manifold (not available anywhere, and the online ones seem to be incompatible as per reviews) - so, got an used one in the meantime. After fitting it, the problem of engine cutting off after cold start has not reduced further, but the initial acceleration hesitation has come down. Bike still starts without choke, but using the choke helps to overcome the initial roll off hesitation in first gear. A couple of minutes later or after about half a km ride, the hesitation vanishes. Idling is at about 1500 rpm.

Have turned out the pilot screw again (it is now somewhere between 3.75 to 4 turns out). Spark plug colour is a dull white. Guess there's a co-relation between the idle rpm and pilot screw setting and getting the perfect balance requires a lot of effort and judgement...

Planning for oil change. Contemplating premium oil (Motul) and hoping that it will solve the remaining 5% of the cold start issues? Any recommendations on the oil grade and brand? Present one is 20w40 HP Racer 4.
