BHPian ![]() | ![]() I don't know why RE changing from 21 inch to 19 inch at front. That 21 inch front gave me so much confidence while off-roading and touring. Although MRF Meteors are better than default CEAT. IMO, RE should remove digital compass(as it don't work 99% of times) and make instrument cluster more simpler which will look more classic. |

| ![]() Hopefully, with this update, the structural and mechanical faults that plagued the BS 3 model and was partially transferred to the BS 4 models, should be completely ironed out. The addition of switchable ABS and tubeless tyres would make this the perfect beginner's Off-road cum touring machine. Looking forward for the official launch. |

| ![]() Could the 19 inch front wheel be for a more road biased variant? I doubt they'd just get rid of the 21 inch wheels and rob the bike of an appreciable bit of functionality. |

| ![]() Wouldn't a smaller wheel compromise the ground clearance... Unless they've lengthened the suspension / added more travel |

| ![]() Tubeless tyres on the Himalayan...man, that’s like asking for a TFT screen on a Hero splendour. Flat tracker or scrambler, that thing is not going anywhere with that lump of an engine. No sir. |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() My best guess is that they're testing the BS6 variant, and while at it, the 19-inch front wheel as well (probably for a more road biased model). The engine looks the same and I'm pretty sure that there's not going to be a Himalayan with a smaller displacement engine. Why? 1. No one wants one. The biggest criticism that the Himalayan receives is that of being underpowered. If rumours are to be true, Royal Enfield is currently developing a 650-700cc Himalayan. 2. What is it going to compete with? Price is never really a problem with the Himalayan. It is still going to undercut the upcoming 250 Adventure by KTM. 3. For the Himalayan to compete with something like an XPulse, it needs to shed some serious weight. And then again, a 19inch front wheel here would make the least sense. That just leaves us with the BS6 transition. While price is most definitely going to increase when BS6 arrives, is it wise to buy a BS4 Himalayan now? Don't think there will be any internal changes as such, since they just launched the BS4 in some foreign markets. Neel |

| ![]() Just had a conversation with RE Sales guy from Trivandrum, who just attended the training for BS6 Himalayan. Launch:- Jan 2020, 3rd week. New Colors:- Gravel Grey, Lake Blue and Rock Red. (already circulating online) Brakes:- Switchable abs (only rear switchable) - efficiency also tweaked Indicators:- Hazard switch present on the right as confirmed at the start of this thread. Instrument cluster:- Minor tweaks Wheel size:- I double checked, and he said nothing changed. I'm on the verge of booking one and can't wait to see the new options in person. |
