Devot Motors @ Auto Expo 2020

Big shoutout to Eddy for shooting these pictures & his coverage of the Auto Expo. Thanks for sharing, man!

Devot Motors had a tiny stand at the Auto Expo:

Only one bike on display, which is a prototype of their upcoming electric motorcycle:

The name comes from the word devotion. The company claims to be devoted to protect earth by offering a zero emissions electric motorcycle. It gets a chain drive:

Devot Motors is based out of Jodhpur, Rajasthan and plans to market the bike by the end of 2020. The production version is expected to cost between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 1.5 lakh:

It comes with telescopic front suspension and circular LED headlamps:

It gets twin shock absorbers at the rear. Looks like an unfinished concept. Notice that the rear suspension is not aligned properly:

There's a storage compartment in place of the fuel tank. It can take a helmet:

It comes with a digital instrument cluster that displays the speed, state of charge, odometer and the gear. It also comes with an engine start / stop button backlit in blue:

Some of the features and specifications of the bike. It gets removable batteries and the range is said to be 200 km on a single charge. The company claims that while the top speed is said to be 100 km/h, the bike has reached 115 km/h:

Hearing the brand for the first time. And going by their social media channels - looks like they started only with the 2020 Expo.

Nice bike, though that bulky cover below the frame (probably covering the battery pack) is somewhat spoiling the looks. Will look better with that portion in black.

Blame me for judging by looks, but this is an UGLY motorcycle. Would be interesting to see how it fares.

Re: Devot Motors @ Auto Expo 2020

Its early time for EVs in India and we are bound to see such small manufacturers attempting their hands at this craft. It is very reminiscent of the scooters trend during the license Raj. The market will consolidate in the future for these EVs and such small manufacturers will be absorbed or driven out by larger players in the long run.

But this is a shoddy job at a motorcycle and looks like a modjob rather than a finished product. I feel there is no room for such boutique manufacturers in the Indian market unless they have an exceptional product.

I think the idea of making available a helmet storage compartment in a mortorcycle is just awesome and so very necessary to ensure that every rider carries an extra helmet for the pillion (i donno how many will agree with me!), which if not a everyday affair might spring up anytime (friends or lending helpful hand to someone.etc).

Donno why other EV motorcycle manufacturers didn't come up with such an idea, since it's almost impossible to find place for such storage in a normal gasoline powered motorcycle (without spoiling the look or functionality of other components).

Yes, you are 100% right, electric vehicles are way too easy to build compared to fossil fuel vehicles. Everyone has access to all the aggregates and little knowledge on electrical and lithium ion battery pack safety is enough to build a vehicle. Even i built one last year .

Re: Devot Motors @ Auto Expo 2020

Here are two bikes that have helmet compartments:

Aprilia Mana: https://www.google.com/search?q=apri...et+compartment

Honda NC700: https://www.google.com/search?q=Hond...et+compartment

This Devot bike is stunningly and breathtakingly ugly! It's amazing that any company would take a half-baked idea (not even a product) to such a prominent platform. The management has both questionable taste and judgement.
