Get your bike checked at the service center. Or try riding some other similar 150-160cc bike for reference and quick comparison.

Any 150cc+ bike should be able to achieve 100 km/h easily (not that is is preferred on our kind of roads).

re: Honda to launch Hornet 200R in India. EDIT: Now Launched as Hornet 2.0

Some details that I could gather:

Priced at ₹1.26 lakhs Ex-Showroom

184cc engine with 16.1Nm of torque, power figure unknown.
0-200m in 11.25sec! I wonder why they don't give out straightforward information.

Equipped with single-channel ABS, USD forks of unknown diameter and gets LED lights all around including the blinkers.

110-section front and 140-section rear tyres.

Gets a feature-loaded negative LCD display in the console. Also equipped with a hazard-light switch and engine-kill switch.

This must be one of the worst product launches that I've seen; none of the crucial details were revealed.

EDIT : Official website has now been updated with more details. Link:

The Yamaha MT-15 would be a far better option.

It's Time Yamaha gets those USD forks on the MT-15.

re: Honda to launch Hornet 200R in India. EDIT: Now Launched as Hornet 2.0

Why do bike makers, especially Honda take so long to up the ante on India-made bigger-capacity bikes?! The P150 was newsworthy when I was in my final year of college, is a new 200cc that big a deal nearly 20 years later?!

By now I was hoping for a range of made-in-India 300s and 400s. (Yeah, yeah, I know, sales, market not suitable, etc.)

Precisely. Considering that MT15 costs so much already, enthusiasts wouldn't mind paying more for them.

re: Honda to launch Hornet 200R in India. EDIT: Now Launched as Hornet 2.0

Highlights Spec Sheet attached.

+Ves
USD Forks
Increased displacement
New colours are more appealing than the last green, yellow ones

-Ves
Single channel ABS
Similar design to the Old Hornet, not inline with the Thai CB150R
Key on tank might mean Fuel tank size is reduced

They also claim best in class Power & torque, are they still comparing with 160cc bikes ?

Might not have much top end compared to the competition but its claimed class leading mid range torque should make it very fun.

Regarding the given time of 0-200 in 11.2 secs.

For comparison the CB300R was launched with 0-200m in 9.2 seconds. So it might not be all that slow.

They are comparing with Pulsar 180F and 180 Apache I believe. And being a longstroke engine should be fun.

And this bike weights only 142kg and it means a good power to weight ratio.

Re: Honda Hornet 2.0 launched at Rs. 1.26 lakh

The design looks stylish and the specs on paper looks promising.
Wonder if I would pick this over an Apache RTR 200. I feel that the Apache is the best in segment in terms of styling, performance and driving pleasure.

This one seems to be a bit overpriced too IMO. My eyes are on a preowned Hornet 160r of one of my relatives who have upgraded to the RE CLASSIC 350. The 160r was a better offering. I don't know why they discontinued that one.

Go for Apache RTR 200 over this. Don't buy this overpriced half-hearted low spec arrangement Honda calls a motorcycle.

Re: Honda Hornet 2.0 launched at Rs. 1.26 lakh

For just 10k more, Yamaha's MT-15 makes more sense over this, if pillion comfort is not a requirement. It should be as reliable, offers a more involving ride and is equally feature-laden as well, if not more.

Of course, if pillion comfort is important, then I see this Honda as a decent alternative for the price, judging by the way that pillion seat looks in the pictures. News channels were speculating that the Hornet would be priced at around 1.4 lakhs which would have been disastrous; good that they did not go overboard with the pricing, though I wouldn't call this VFM either. This is just around 5k more expensive than the Suzuki Gixxer 150. Since the peak torque of 16.1 Nm comes in relatively early at 6000rpm, I guess the engine might have been tuned with a bias towards low and mid range grunt, which is what a city bike like this needs. Even the compression ratio is a very conservative 9.5:1.

I hate those golden coloured forks, too loud for my taste. And those oversized "Hornet" and "2.0" stickers ruin the looks as well, in my view. In the highly unlikely event that I end up purchasing this, they would be the first to go off.

If I were to purchase from this segment, I would add another 30k and get an FZ-25.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think this is half hearted low spec motorcycle? Trying to understand better.
