Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() This is one evergreen design and Bajaj has managed to sell the old wine in the old bottle itself. Reminds me of my Pulsar 180 (Bajaj Pulsar 180 : Long term ownership report. Edit, sold!)! Even back then, the 150cc was the most popular variant, followed by the 220cc one. P180 sold in limited numbers but I was clear with my requirements and I was very happy with my purchase! Basic updates like disc at the rear, single ch. ABS, a basic FI unit and different graphics - these are the only difference between this 2021 model and my ex-2012 model. And of course, a price hike of Rs. 34k. Now, I will wait for another 6 months when Bajaj discontinues this and launches the Pulsar 110. ![]() Last edited by ashis89 : 23rd February 2021 at 14:32. |

| ![]() I wouldn't be suprised if they do that. They came up with a Pulsar 125. The unique point about a Pulsar (in 2001) is that it was atleast 150cc and came with front disc as standard. With the Pulsar 125 they changed both of the above points. They might as well just plonk the Discover 110 engine into the 125 Pulsar and introduce the Pulsar 110cc. I'll buy it and replace my Splendor Pro as the city runner. |

| ![]() Bajaj already had presence in the 180 CC space with the Pulsar 180F. Instead they should have brought back the 200 CC version which was a well received product & would have completed their old Pulsar design offering lineup (125 to 220 CC) |

| ![]() I feel the facelifts make the product look old, if you sell it untouched for long enough, it becomes a classic, this design looks so dated in its current form, like desperately used botox on an old superstar, I just googled the original Pulsar's images and that looks way better, kinda like a modern version of designs like CB350 RS (the recent one), RX100 and other 80s/90s designs which are still in fashion, this on the other hand looks like a compromised product, pricing is not that low either. I got my r15v3 ABS for 1.4L ex showroom just an year and half ago, this post will exceed the words limit if i just begin listing the stuff it gets over this bike for just 30k more. Should focus on the newer platform instead, those KTM engineered engines are brilliant too! Last edited by Rocketscience : 23rd February 2021 at 16:15. |

| ![]() There was a time when Pulsars were the most updated motorcycles in the Indian Motorcycle scene. Every couple of years, the power output of the Pulsar would go up by 1 BHP. If I remember correctly, the Grandpa Pulsars 150/180 were launched with 12 and 15 BHP of power back in 2001. By 2006, they were already in the UG3 with 14BHP in the P150 and 17 BHP in the P180. UG4 in 2009 brought sharper styling to both twins but power increased only on the P150 to 15BHP. That is when all progress stopped and Bajaj made the Pulsars what Bajaj fans loathed, a Hero Honda with its innumerable sticker jobs. It has been 15 years since UG3, 12 years since UG4 and there has been no upward movement in these bikes. The only changes are as follows: 1. Split grab rail (lifted from the P220) 2. Split seats (lifted from the P220) 3. FI (due to emission norms) 4. Single Channel ABS (due to safety norms) 5. Clip-on handlebars (lifted from the P220) 6. Speedo backlight colour change from Orange to Blue 7. About 12-13 kg of additional weight! The 200NS and RS were a breath of fresh air but Bajaj never proceeded to update them or build on those platforms any further any more than what was absolutely required by law. What's the reason for launching this again? When a clearly superior motorcycle in every regard, the NS160 already *exists* in the same showroom for a minuscule amount more. They should just move on from the 2009 UG4 replica Pulsars, launch an NS125 with 14-15 BHP and call it a day. NS125 NS160 NS200 RS200 Nice and compact lineup. Keep the Pulsar 125 for good measure if you feel that this will be too radical a move. That should keep the cash registers ringing. |

| ![]() Feeling nostalgic! My first bike just after school. ![]() ![]() I had the 180 dts-i 2003 model purchased on 21-Oct-2003 for Rs. 60821 (On road price in Nagpur). Date and price I still remember. |

| ![]() Agreed, there are too many variants of the Pulsar now. I wish they had just stuck to 150cc, 180cc and 220cc variants. But still, for some reason; the classic shape and colour strikes a chord in my heart. The other thing I always felt was they should have updated the instrument console. I really loved the analog ones of the Gen 1 Pulsar (with round headlamps) and the current instrument console is almost unchanged from the time they switched to the digital one. All those variants notwithstanding, I like this 180cc version; I feel they may have got this back as a competition to the Hornet 2.0. |

| ![]() Sometime back, I remember there was another rumour that Bajaj will launch pulsar 400 in addition to Dominar 400, somewhere. In the midst of several 10-20 cc incremental launches of various bikes, added to covid confusions, looks like they have forgotten to launch pulsar 400. | ![]() It seema that Bajaj has caught in a time warp in selling the 2 generations of the Pulsars together. (125cc to the 220cc withe the dual cradle frame and the NS with the twin spar frame) They would have relaunched it since Honda has launched the Hornet 2.0 (which actually has a 180cc mill), to make it a better value proposition |

OT: My 2009 UG3 Pulsar 150 some Rs 62k (my brother had bought it). Now it costs Rs 1.12L here. That's a 50k price hike. Same motorcycle with more weight, a heavier catcon and no changes at all. Also, before anyone makes a comment that the added weight makes the bike stable, no it doesn't. The Pulsar was stable enough even back then. Never feel off the bike because of the dynamics. Bajaj has just plonked the 220 parts onto a bike for no reason. GG for them. | |

| ![]() I own this beauty (Wine red, 150 CC) from 2019, it was gift from my beloved father. I am so much attached to this machine emotionally, I have replaced the panels with new ones 3 years back. Even after 11 years and 70K Kms in odo it just fires up in single kick. |

| ![]() I loved the Pulsar back in the day. It was strong, bold and ahead of its time, just like the Karizma. But that was 10 years ago, probably more, and in a world where we live today, there are much better bikes out there, even from the same manufacturer infact. This "newly" launched Pulsar is like the one where I'll probably look at from standing outside the showroom and smile (simply for the nostalgic feel), but would never enter in to buy. Remember the Pulsar Maniacs? Well most of them probably grew older, matured out and moved to bigger bikes/cars. As for the college going young folk out there today, they probably look at it now as a "Uncle" bike, and would consider something like a KTM duke anyday. Sad truth, but that's how the generation has changed, and so did we. |
