Re: New Yamaha bike spied. EDIT: FZ-X launched at Rs. 1.17 lakh

Who is Yamaha's target audience for this bike? This looks like a beefier XL HD to my eyes. I really doubt if this will sell. I really wish Yamaha changes their leadership of their Indian business and start selling what they're good at internationally. Who ever is the boss at Yamaha has no idea about market research and planning.
This Yamaha is something that no body asked for.

Re: New Yamaha bike spied. EDIT: FZ-X launched at Rs. 1.17 lakh

Yamaha launches FZ-X Neo-Retro Motorcycle at Rs. 1.17 lakh

Yamaha has launched the FZ-X - a neo-retro motorcycle in India. The bike is available in two variants – with Bluetooth and without Bluetooth, priced at Rs. 1,16,800 and 1,19,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.

The FZ-X model is powered by a 149cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, 2-valve Blue Core FI Engine which generates 12.2 BHP @ 7,250 rpm and 13.3 Nm @ 5,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at the front and rear. The bike gets a Bosch single-channel ABS at the front.

The FZ-X comes in three colours - Metallic Blue, Matt Copper and Matt Black. It gets metal components on the fuel tank, side covers, engine guard, headlight stays, front fender, fender stay, and the grab-bar. The bike gets a telescopic fork suspension at the front with black coloured boots and a monoshock at the rear.

The bike comes with a bi-functional LED headlight with LED daytime running lamp, an LCD instrument cluster with a power socket, and an LED tail light. The FZ-X also comes equipped with a side stand with engine cut off switch. The bike gets a higher handlebar that is positioned closer to the rider, a step-up seat and a lower engine protector guard.

The FZ-X measures 2,020 mm in length, 785 mm in width and 1,115 mm in height with a wheelbase of 1,330 mm and a seat height of 810 mm. It has a minimum ground clearance of 165 mm and weighs 139 kg (with oil and a full fuel tank). Yamaha has also offered block pattern dual-purpose 100/80-17 and 140/60-17 tubeless tyres at the front and rear respectively.

The top variant of the FZ-X comes with Bluetooth connectivity. It receives a communication control unit, which is compatible with Yamaha’s Y-Connect smartphone app. Through this app, the rider can get notifications via the instrument cluster icons, look at maintenance recommendations, track the bike’s last parking location, track fuel consumption and receive malfunction notifications. It also displays data such as engine rpm, degree of throttle opening, rate of acceleration, an eco-friendly riding indicator, etc. on your smartphone.

FZ-X will be available in the market by the end of June. The first 200 customers who book the bike online will get a limited edition Yamaha G-Shock watch.

Looks a little overdone or disproportionate to me. I wish they had retained the looks of RD or RX with FZ or MT15 engine

Re: New Yamaha bike spied. EDIT: FZ-X launched at Rs. 1.17 lakh

Yikes! Looks like the management took a gun to the designer's head and asked him to convert the FZ into a retro!

Another poor design from Yamaha!

Like the above post mentions - it is sad that they didn't take inspiration from their icons.

Is it me or does anyone else feels like this looks like an overgrown Navi?

Come on, Yamaha! You guys can do better than this on the design department.

Re: New Yamaha bike spied. EDIT: FZ-X launched at Rs. 1.17 lakh

At this point it's difficult to say if Yamaha are trolling us, or if the management has completely lost their marbles. I don't believe I've ever seen a worse hackjob, this is clearly just an attempt to cash in on the neo retro trend, but wow I never thought something could look worse than the Intruder 150.

This literally looks like a 5 year old's drawing of a motorcycle, how could Yamaha, the company associated with Rossi, have allowed this botched surgery to make it to production?

Wow, I've never come across a motorcycle design that's more confusing than this - it's neither neo nor retro ! Let's all observe a moment's silence for all the poor souls who were expecting Yamaha to launch the beautiful XSR 155 !

Re: New Yamaha bike spied. EDIT: FZ-X launched at Rs. 1.17 lakh

The more I look at this, the more depressed I’m. What have they done to a lovely street bike design to come up wit this?

Keeping that aside, can someone explain the headlight design to me? Overall a very confusing designs.

Re: New Yamaha bike spied. EDIT: FZ-X launched at Rs. 1.17 lakh

Just in case people want to know, the FZ250's price has been reduced massively by 20,000 Rupees. The bike now costs 1.34lakhs ex showroom.

Now, This bike at 1.17L does not offer anything groundbreaking compared to competition. Power figures are dismal too.

Put 17k more and you will get
- Dual channel ABS
- Massive bump in power and torque figures with 250cc engine
- Better looking bike overall

Yamaha have probably gone the eXtra mile designing this eXtraordinary bike! C'mon Yamaha, you have taken the "X" moniker way too seriously
Good Luck Yamaha!

Re: New Yamaha bike spied. EDIT: FZ-X launched at Rs. 1.17 lakh

What’s wrong with yamaha? They are churning out ugly ducklings one after another. First destroyed the once great looking FZ series and now this. And 1.17L exshowroom for a ~12bhp machine. I doubt this has any USP other than yamaha brandname

And here I am still expecting them to get a Xpulse200 competitor on FZ25 platform

Re: New Yamaha bike spied. EDIT: FZ-X launched at Rs. 1.17 lakh

If they keep churning out designs like these for our market then I will not surprise that one day they will pack and move out of India. No one will buy them. During my school days I was a fan of Yamaha with their RX100 and RX135 bikes. They are timeless and now it’s atrocious.

BTW, I really like the XSR155 which the East Asian market gets. Yamaha India management needs some change.

This is really coming from Yamaha India? Probably the worst design so far.

Why couldn’t they have just introduced the XSR design with the FZ engine. This is giving me ‘pet sematary’ vibes. Yikes!

The orange color is particularly repulsive! What were they thinking with this design?
