re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

CB200X is the name of the new motorcycle. Looks good IMO. But doubt if there’s any change over the hornet 2.0 in mechanicals. Need to wait for reviews.

A fairly decent launch I must say, just that I was a little miffed with the whole "millennial" chant throughout the event! The bike seems to be a good overall package.

Pricing seems to be alright based on Honda's history. Don't see the exact target audience for the bike however, Xpulse for example has a very strong off-road purpose, this seems like they're trying to please both the tourer and trail riding crowd. That usually doesn't end well.

Speaking of the launch video, I have never seen a more hilariously awkward marketing presentation Don't really understand why companies keep hiring school debate teams to write their speeches. Talk like normal human beings!

re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

I missed some portion of the launch.

Did they mention if it will have a 6-speed gearbox?

This is a tourer and not an off-roader. That is not a bad thing. For all things off-road the Xpulse is always there.

CB200x seems to have a larger seat than the Xpulse. Good for 2 up riding, which is tough on an xpulse.

The engine outputs seem similarly matched.

The price of 1.44 is slightly on the higher side by about 20k. In Bangalore that will make the on-road price around 1.95 lakh.

The presentation kind of sucked and seemed forced

Can we expect a Honda CB 350X in the future?

5-speed gearbox, same as the Hornet 2.0

Unlikely, if they do, it'll be priced over 2.5L and they'll need a better engine than the one in the CB350 to compete with the Himalayan and the KTM 390 ADV then. I don't see Honda putting in that effort for India.

re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

Somehow I'm failing to see who the target audience is. In other words, what to expect from the bike. Wouldn't make sense to target the Xpulse as CB200X isn't as good an off-roader as the Xpulse is. Can't compare with adv tourers such as Himalayan or KTM Advs as those are more powerful. The closest I can think of is a better city bike than Himalayan and Xpulse and one that can also do mild offroads?

I wish Honda plonked that 350cc mill on the CB lineup, heck even price 50-60k more than CB200X, and would've gone straight up against the Himalayans and Advs, and made a nice entry point for the future CB500x customers.

Cheers!

Imagine this bike with the CBR250R's engine. That would have made a huge difference. Albeit in a different state of tune. And, of course a higher price to justify the 6th gear and higher capacity engine. This would be the best combo for an entry level soft roader.

This is a problem for the Hornet. The gear ratios are supposed to be good for the city and not suited for highway touring.

The tourer now has the same problem. Have to wait for a comparison road test with the xpulse.

Honda already has such a bike in their portfolio and it’s called CRF250 and a rally version, which is capable and looks bloody darn good as well. It’s the same cbr 250 engine tuned for off-roading. There are several videos from east Asia as well. I have been waiting to replace my current cbr with something like this.

There's no suspension travel numbers on the official specsheet. But the ground clearance is the exact same as the hornet, means no long travel suspension?

So, it's just a damn Hornet with extra plastics, weight, and asking price? Thanks a lot Honda.

I take my words back about the FZS25. Lord of Adventure, please forgive me.

Surprising to see the bike get only a single channel ABS. The knuckle guards could have been provided as an accessory while giving dual channel ABS instead. I really wonder if the cost benefit is worth it (it's not).

re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

Youngsters who want to venture into touring may have this as their first bike.

It does look more civilian than the Xpulse, I would choose this over the Xpulse. This will work for office/college on weekdays, and touring on weekends.
Would have preferred a dual channel ABS.

However, I do not understand the reason behind the USD forks on the CB200x vs the telescopic forks on the elder cousin, the CB500x.

re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

As seen in the pics:
*It definitely looks good and proportionate.
*Importantly, the rider posture and seating seems comfortable for longer journeys and also to ride in the city
*Suspension needs to be different from Hornet importantly with more travel to take on the surprises our roads throw at us.
*It definitely will not put fire on the sales chart as the masses do not understand such bikes. Honda should push test rides so that customers can experience the ride comfort that these bikes are meant for, otherwise this bike is going the disappearing road soon.
*I personally would pick this bike if I needed a daily ride for its seating posture and ride comfort.

That would make a more capable bike but NO, since NX200 would be selling in limited numbers it would not be viable for Honda to add another product to their product portfolio with not much sales number. Besides the engine design and the body of the bike would be a big NO for Honda designers.

NO, they are not targeting the Xpulse audience. I think they are focusing more towards KTM Adventure 250 customers, the ones who are new touring enthusiasts and also need a bike they can use as a daily ride to office.

Not so soon as the sales numbers would not justify adding a new product to the line up. Besides I don't think they would add that retro styled CB350 engine to the more modern looking NX200. The designers at Honda wouldn't accept such combination for design aesthetics.

You cant have best of both worlds and especially if you are on a budget. This this bike Honda focusses on the customers who does daily ride to office and sometimes does a short to mid tours. This is the reason they chose to stick with Hornet's engine in the first place for this budget tourer.
