Nice work Shreeram, she looks great in the 1st pic. Get your exhaust silencer s properly chromed and get the sticering done. Somehow I fell the RD looks better with the original stickering, or maybe do something innovative. And is the headlight dome original?

What igntion and pistons is she running on? And carb jets?

@ Devarshi (my MOTOGP thread friend), an RD does not need to be serviced every 1000 kms. If you have a good mechanic and take good care of her yourself (i.e. preserve her well), you dont need to service her at all. You do the regular maintainence (no major oil change, etc. required since you have to keep topping up), and just call ur mechanic say every 3000 odd kms to service the brakes and carbs.

And once you own an RD, you should be good enough to oil the chain and change cables if needed.

Cheers.

If you are running on points, you need regular servicing ie. setting of CB points. like in every 500kms to keep her running in the right way, unless, you learn the art of using the feeler gauge. better switch to a cdi and say bye bye to these kind of probs.

I have a set of Silencers (chromed) will be installing them soon.

She is running on imported art pistons & on points.

Hey shreeram i hope that your RD is running good. but do make sure that you soruce a good set of exausts cause you are running different exausts on both the ends. one is LT and other HT

nothing wrong in running one HT and LT silencer as long as ur baffels and flutes are intact . best of both worlds i say ! running one LT and HT barrel isnt such a good idea tho . But the best thing to do , take of the stock exhausts and plonk on chambers . any chambers and blast !

BTW if they were badged as Yamaha they would have sold in decent numbers. Escorts even changed the name of the hugely successful Yamaha RX 100 as "Escorts 100" and the sales immediately dried up. They had to hurriedly bring back the Yamaha badging.

Some people never learn!:)

Respected Sir, the bike was launched in 1984. and that same year our Mumbai Traffic Police brought some of them , they had fixed fancy siren, revolving amber light, walkie talkie stand, some also had fog lamps but these pandus did not know how to ride these sofisticated bikes of that time, they used to ride the bikes as if they were riding the old favorite Bullet which they were used to ride. Then spares were expensive and service unavaialable in the end they were scrapped very soon.

Hello Guys,

Recently I was in Trivandrum for few days. As I was there only for 5 days I did not take out my RD from its "pickled condition". But out of sheer habit I had to visit the Mechanics I use for my RD up-keep jut to say hello.

In one (Murugan, Jagathy TVM) I found two beautiful bikes. I am attaching the pictures here (Bike 1 on this)

This belongs to one Mr. Biju/Balu as per Murugan (I could be wrong on the names)

What prompted me to take the picture was the beautiful condition it was after the service. I really had a lump in my throat (almost same as I had when I first saw my Blue Beauty)

Please also note the following

Indicators - All four indicators are fabricated in Trivandrum using RX100 Dome and Lense. See how closely they resemble the original

Tail Pipes - Both the tailpipes - from the union to the bend downwards - fabricated in Trivandrum by Mr. Madhu of Vayasalai. The sound was reasonable as well (the bike was in need of tuning- its on Points I believe and Murugan was never a good tuner)

I am sure all of you would enjoy this

Best Regards. Thanks and Ride Safe

Ram
I just had to ask if the owner might be interested in selling

As mentioned in my previous post here is the 2nd Bike.

Not as good as the other bike but still a ver good example of well maintained RD 350

As per Murugan, this may be - just may be - for sale for any offers over Rs 1 Lakh

Enjoy the Pictures (please excuse the picture quality as my mobile has only a VGA Camera as I believe in using the phone as a phone and camera as a camera - yeah I regretted that belief at that point of time, when I saw the bikes)

Thanks, Best Regards and Ride Safe

Ram

This is my RD 350 LT(1987) still runs on CB points(zero modifications so far) :D

Satpal,

Your RD looks terrific man. Keep it up.

Cheers,

Jay

@ Jay
Thanks Mate, just thinking of getting it painted (may be like deep blood red) and then getting all chrome parts to be buffed...

-Satpal

Very Immaculately maintained RD350,whic is always a treat to eyes !!!

@Shreeram,
please put a front fork stay for you safety. Else the front wheel might twist under heavy braking resulting in damage to the Fork Assembly.
@Iqbal Veeraji,
RD's were launched in 1983 and not in 1984.

Hey great pics guys.
