Spied testing: Bajaj - Triumph single cylinder motorcycles

I like the sub-frame design.

Looks like bolt on 2 part frame design. (Africa twin also has one... and some KTM)

Quite himalayan-ish.

This looks like a lot of potential!

Scramblers seem to be the flavor of the market. I do hope we get it late this year and not 2023.

the only gripe I have is the compact pillion seat.

Re: Bajaj announces partnership with Triumph Motors!

Engine looks like oil cooled, not liquid cooled, just like 650 twin from RE. Front forks seems similar to Duke, possible parts sharing? All this seems to point towards aggressive pricing which Bajaj is know for.

Spyshots have emerged of the first new single-cylinder Triumphs for 50 years as the British brand look to fight back against the rise of Royal Enfield.

The new bikes are being built by Indian manufacturing giant Bajaj and are the first models from a partnership that was announced in January 2020.

Looking at the wheels, it’s also clear there are two distinct models – a 17in wheeled Street Single, as we’ll call it, and a 19/17in wheeled scrambler that we’ll call the Tiger Cub (and if Triumph don’t, they’re missing a trick). What’s interesting is that despite their presumed budget price the spec appears anything but.

Both bikes have USD forks, LED lights, radial front calipers and TFT dashes. The ‘Cub’ even has handguards and serrated footpegs. It’s clear that Triumph are sticking with the same formula as the Trident 660 and going for the premium end of the budget market.

God bless competition, there has been a long time since the Duke 390 and then Interceptor disruption in market which ultimately benefited us, consumers, this has all the ingredients to be a success given the massive pull Triumph brand will certainly generate.

Re: Spied testing: Bajaj - Triumph single cylinder motorcycles

Finally a scrambler with alloys and tubeless
With Bajaj and Triumph I am expecting finesse, passion and economic sensibility in the same motorcycle.

They realized that the a lot of people with some money to "reclaim their lives" in Safari speak(not the new one) also have bad backs and better halves to strike sense into them from getting a ridiculously expensive reclamation

Future looks good for us with the retro/scramblers/roadsters/street-naked space heating up.
That exhaust is going to sound nice, will it move the senses or not remains to be seen.

Doesn't that naked resemble the Trident more than the Bonneville? I like!

Should be good competition to the CB300R internationally.

That radiator is a bit too big to be an oil cooler for a 300cc. The fins etc are probably just cosmetic

This looks less Triumph and more Yamaha XSR. Also, is it taking inspiration from the Trident and going for the small and sleek look? It will be interesting to place these bikes side by side with the latest generation of Pulsars and see which looks more imposing.

Triumph’s Chief Product Officer, Steve Sargent, has confirmed to MCN that: “The Bajaj tie-up is about middleweight capacity bikes. So, we would say middleweights probably start at 250 and go up to maybe 650. So, bikes in that kind of capacity range is what we’re working on.”

What we’re trying to do is stretch the range into areas where Triumph hasn’t historically been – giving new people an opportunity to come into the Triumph brand.

The first pic looks ok. The side profile and the tail profile looks like a beefed up Platina from these pics.

Not the Platina but the 2005 Discover 125 used to look like this. Why did this product require the coming together of two giants like Bajaj and Triumph I wonder?

Will this be labelled a Triumph or a Bajaj? While the Engine has very similar designed to like that of the Triumph, I somehow doubt if they will use the Triumph nameplate for this motorcycle.

I guess it will be like the partnership between the TVS and BMW. Each brands will have their own product with the same engine platform.

Lower capacity and single cylinder machines are an unexplored Territory for Triumph. Since these machines would become the entry level for the brand they would want to capture market share in India with these machines.

Bajaj would help them in Manufacturing & marketing, in return Triumph would share their technology with Bajaj.

Might be a bad idea, if Bajaj is going to target Enfield again with infamous "hathi mat paalo" like marketing
