Harley-Davidson LiveWire's new e-bike to launch in June 2022

Harley-Davidson's LiveWire sub-brand will launch a new electric motorcycle in Q2 of 2022. The new e-bike has been codenamed 'S2', with the final version expected to be called Del Mar.

The LiveWire Del Mar will debut the brand's new ARROW platform, set to underpin a number of its future products as well. It will be positioned below the brand's LiveWire model, making it a more affordable offering.

The new Del Mar motorcycle will come with a structural battery pack and consist of 21,700 cylindrical Li-ion battery cells. It will be paired with a direct-drive motor, with the outputs yet to be confirmed by Harley-Davidson.

The new platform also comes with a DC-DC charger, inverter, shared cooling circuits, wiring harness and many other components, which should allow it to be used on multiple future products, thus bringing down the production costs.

Harley-Davidson also confirmed two other products, codenamed S3 and S4 for the future, both of which will use the same ARROW platform.

Re: Harley-Davidson LiveWire's new e-bike to launch in June 2022

Harley needs a makeover. Its not a company or brand bound to fail, its the American dream.

This Livewire can make a difference and given the technical details shown so far, I can see that we can make a variety of motorcycle types on this platform: Cruisers, streetbikes, sport oriented bikes, etc. It has the potential.
They should focus on: Mass Customisation, Parts sharing and economies involved, post purchase (official) customisation programme, and modernisation.
Combine your strengths, reduce your weaknesses.

While on the topic of Harley livewire, the below video from Fortnine on Alta/Harley link.

Harley had a good chance with Alta to jump the EV bandwagon they always seem to be hesitant to change.

The S2 Del Mar is based on the brand's new S2 Arrow architecture. It combines the electric motor, battery pack and electronics into a single unit, which also forms the chassis of the bike.

While Harley-Davidson is yet to reveal the detailed specs of the bike, the electric motor is expected to have an output of around 80 BHP, which makes it more powerful than the LiveWire One. The bike is 25% lighter and can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. The onboard battery is said to offer a maximum range of 160 km on a single charge.

The S2 Del Mar comes with built-in GPS and supports over-the-air updates. It is compatible with Level-1 and Level-2 charging but doesn't support fast charging.
