Yamaha NMax 155 maxi-scooter could be headed to India

Yamaha has revealed the 2022 NMax 155 maxi-scooter in China. Reports suggest that it could be introduced in the Indian market.

The NMax 155 is based on the Aerox 155 that is currently available in India. It is powered by the same 155cc, single-cylinder engine from the R15 V4.0. It makes 15 BHP and 13.9 Nm and comes with an idle start/stop function.

Unlike the Aerox 155, the NMax 155 features a more conventional maxi-scooter look. It has a large fairing in the front with twin headlamps and an integrated windscreen. It has a stepped seat offering a more relaxed riding position.

The NMax 155 also features a fully digital instrument cluster which is compatible with Yamaha’s MyRide app. It gets Bluetooth connectivity with features such as email, call and text alerts as well as smartphone battery level.

Re: Yamaha NMax 155 maxi-scooter could be headed to India

Hope the maxi scooter market in the 150-200cc range really takes off. I for one would prefer this over motorcycles for its twist and go convenience and storage options in crowded Mumbai, if it comes with atleast 8ltr fuel tank and rear disk brakes with dual channel ABS. Hope they don't dilute it to keep prices in check. And Yamaha, please open more dealerships and service centers.

Can we please get this / Aerox with a floorboard? So that it can help convince the home ministry that it is actually a scooter and not a motorcycle masquerading as one.

I recently saw the Aprillia SXR160 on the road and could think of absolutely no reason to opt for that one over an Aerox with a floorboard especially since the price difference is just Rs.2k.

If anyone from Yamaha is reading this, please do note that this is the ONLY reason stopping me from going Yes! Yamaha!

Sorry mate! But in the case of such Maxi Scooters, with a flat floorboard they really look bulky at the front and rear and sort of weak, flimsy and breakable near the floorboard.

If flat floor-board is necessary along with front-fuel filling option and practicality, then the TVS Jupiter 125 and the likes look and work just fine, but for the rest of these maxi-scooters, without the spine they will look odd.

I'm a sucker for flat floorboards as well. Home-ministry approval aside, the practicality they offer in India is unbeatable. A flat floorboard with generous underseat storage would be a double delight for sure !!

Honda has one called the Vario 160 which comes with a flat-ish floorboard. Its an Aerox 155 competitor in South-East Asian markets where its sold. Looks decentish. But i haven't seen a 300cc and above scooter with a flat floorboard (maybe there are...)

Firstly, can they fix the awful absolutely awful monstrosity that passes for a suspension in the Aerox before they bring out another scooter?

Re: Yamaha NMax 155 maxi-scooter could be headed to India

NMax is by no means a 'maxi-scooter'. I have ridden it extensively, and it is no bigger than any regular 125cc scooter we have in the Indian market.

Yamaha should ideally bring the X-Max 250 to India fully localized, even if it's a bit on the pricier side. Not sure how ready the market is for a real maxi scooter, but I am sure there will be plenty of takers for a premium moto-scooter at the right price. It is a market waiting to be tapped.
