Re: Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is in the works; launch in 2024

It's just the look that is so outdated; they could have done better on that. The specs and pricing are fantastic, but improving the aesthetics could make it stand out much more in the crowd.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is in the works; launch in 2024

I feel that the instrument cluster is too cluttered. A lot of information Jam-packed in such a small area. And that screen on the right is a Dot Matrix Screen which looks out of place for a bike of that price.

The TVS Raider and Ntorq XT have a better dashboard setup than this

Re: Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is in the works; launch in 2024

So it has the Dominar 400 Engine but with a 109 mm smaller wheelbase and a 19 kg lower weight. This should make it quite a different ride from the heavy elephant nature of the Dominar. Expect good performance! 1.85 Ex-showroom, is great! Making higher performance bikes accessible to the masses. Go Bajaj!

Hard NO on the marketing though. I do not understand why they have to show these stunt riders doing maniacal driving in their launches. This is the kind of stuff, that sows the seed of rash driving amongst young bikers. I think Bajaj should really move away from Definitely X, Pulsar Maniacs and Rash stunt driving as a marketing strategy. If you want to show the performance of your bike, show it using racetrack videos.

Can you share a link of where you got this from please.

174 is underwhelming, considering the NS200 is 159.

Surely the bigger engine itself does not weigh 15 kilos more (the old cast iron Bullet 500 was 5 kilos heavier than the 350).

Now I look at my Gen 1 Duke 390, with a dry weight (without fuel) of 142 kg (313 lbs). And realize I am permanently irrevocably spoiled.

Cheers, Doc

The PRE UG Dominar weighed 182kg. I am still confused on how this bike is just 8Kg Lighter

Its surely kind of marred my excitement. Not that my excitement was going to translate into a rupee extra sales for Bajaj anyways. But I have a fondness for the Pulsar line. And I miss the "Its a boy!" TV ad campaigns.

The chassis is the same as the Dominar. There is only so much weight you can reduce by removing the plastics. The major weight saving would be coming from removing the end can and putting an under belly exhaust.

The NS200 had a different chassis?

Regardless of the trail and rake and suspension setup, the chassis is the core of how a bike handles.

And therefore I ask this question with a sense of foreboding ...

Re: Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is in the works; launch in 2024

I shudder to think of the kind of buyers this will attracted, given the price point. Time for power tiered licencing?

The bike itself is in line with what was expected. Bajaj has a crazy 400cc lineup with this ns 400z, speed 400 and the Duke 390/401, spread across close to 2L.

The Duke 200, 250 are bound to struggle.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is in the works; launch in 2024

At 1.85 lakhs ex-showroom (~2.3 lakhs otr Kochi), this is a very good deal. If only they had changed the headlight design, everyone would have loved it at first sight. Honestly, I like it. Would it be a wise decision to buy the first lot of bikes? I’m really hooked on this bike.

If you are in the market, then this is the time to buy it.

Bajaj is dual world champion, at killer pricing and price creep both.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is in the works; launch in 2024

Looks like Bajaj might have done away with their 2, 3 spark plug designs and went back to a single one. Dont see any 3, 5 spark plug stickers either on the bike or brochure

Going back to a 2 piston front caliper seems to be a step behind. I see lot of parts from the newer gen dukes on the NS though.

Duke 200 2022 model has dry weight of 140 kg. Duke 390 2022 model has dry weight of 149 kg. That's 9 kg extra weight for 373 cc engine and related components change assuming chassis and most of the other components remain the same.

Now the NS200 kerb weight is 158 kg as per latest brochure. So NS400 should be 158+9= 167 at minimum. As Bajaj has a target price to meet they might have used cheaper, heavier material to keep the price in check and hence the extra 7 kg addition.

Anyways these paper specs dont matter and lets see if Bajaj is able to solve the slow handling from Dominar or not.
