Which is super quick for a sub 2 lakhs bike, as most of the bikes in this range are in the 10 second range.
I would not read too much into Bajaj's claimed top speed figures. If I recall correct their claimed top speed for the 390 was around 160.

I have a feeling within weeks of delivery you will see you tube videos of the bike hitting 170.

How much do the Speed 400 and Dominar top out at?

Cheers, Doc

Bajaj is notorious for speedo errors. Bajaj bikes usually have a +10 km/hr speedo error, and I think that the margin increases the closer you are towards the actual top speed. And I think unlike manufactures like Dodge, Bajaj gives out numbers that are achievable under all circumstances. And I’m not certain about the top speed (gps) of the Dominar 400 and Speed 400, but I think it’s around 160 km/hr although the speedo might tell you something else.

Either way, regardless of the numbers, we will soon get to know how quick and fast she is compared to the other 400s.

On the road.

This bike will be 2.4 lacs plus in no time. 2 lacs once this introductory offer is over.

Cheers, Doc

The ever vocal Rajiv Bajaj said that safety regulations and over taxation have made motorcycles expensive:

While I think that the addition of ABS is a good thing on the whole, there is no data available to back up the decision nor is there any data to show the effect of ABS in terms of number of reported accidents or fatalities.

On the tax part, I totally agree with Rajiv Bajaj. So many things are stupidly over taxed in the 28% bracket. One example are lead acid batteries used in cars and home UPS. How can that be considered a luxury item from any angle?

ABS to my mind is like training wheels on a kid's bicycle. Without exception those riders who learned and did a big chunk of their riding on non ABS bikes, tend to trigger their ABS a lot less than new age riders who grew up on ABS and have never ridden a non ABS bike. Ride enough with younger kids and you will realise that. If anything, I find the rear ABS way too intrusive for my riding. But it is what it is. We ride what we have. And we have what we can buy.

Cheers, Doc
