According to a media report, Bajaj is working on a 400cc version of the Pulsar. The new model is expected to be called the Pulsar NS400 and it could be ready for launch in 2024.



The Pulsar NS400 will reportedly be based on a modified version of the chassis that underpins the NS200. The frame is likely to be strengthened to handle the bigger engine, making it slightly heavier.

The styling of the Pulsar NS400 could be similar to other models in the NS range. We can expect a sporty design with a bikini fairing at the front, tank extensions and a narrow tail section. The bike could be equipped with features like a digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and an LED headlamp among others.

It is said that the NS400 will use the existing 373cc engine from the Dominar, instead of the upgraded 399cc unit from the KTM 390 Duke. The single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine develops 39.4 BHP and 35 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

The report also states that the Pulsar NS400 is likely to be positioned below the Dominar 400.

That is certainly the updated NS200. This is a screengrab from the teaser and the engine side covers and size looks exactly the same as outgoing NS200. Even the graphics look the same.

True, but weren't publications saying that it'll use the same chassis but strengthened? It would be around the same size as the NS200 then, like how the gen 1 Duke 200 and 390 were.

Guess we'll just need to wait and see 🤞🏾

I meant the size of the engine, not the bike. It's the same 200 motor. The 390/400 block is visibly much bigger and has different side covers. Autocar reported it correctly as an updated NS200

Saw Hindustan Times and few other outlets reporting that it will be launched on 3rd May.
How is that there have been no test mules/leaks on this yet?

How about any major update to Bajaj Avenger ?
Sometime back I had read about possibility of Avenger 400.

Avenger being a cruiser had huge potential but company never considered prominent update on the same and the sales have reduced to Three digits.

It's surprising how not even a single test mule has been spotted, even when the launch is mere weeks away! Makes me doubt if Bajaj has plonked the 373cc engine into NS200 chassis. Or it may very well be a restyled Dominar 400 with minor weight reduction. I don't think it will be aything new, as the bike was already showcased 10 years ago at 2014 auto expo, in the form of Pulsar 'SS 400' concept. The only way Bajaj could make things exciting is by providing the same 43 Ps tune in NS400 as in KTM 390.

Or atleast an Avenger 250 with Pulsar N250's engine. That new 250cc engine is perfect for mile munching. Bajaj has been sleeping on Avenger and Pulsar 220 brands. Both are steady sellers and are in dire need for some juicy mechanical updates.

What I only care about most is:-

a) A bigger Engine
b) Weight of the bike - to be significantly less than present generation Dominar
c) Dual channel ABS a must
d) Comfortable riding posture.
e) Significantly lesser price than DOMINAR.

Speaking about the same or near same state of tune as the KTMs, to me personally is just an on paper thing. I realised that 5 years ago when I rode 2 different Dominars, expecting them to be rawer cruder less equipped Pulsar versions of my Duke 390. And boy was that an eye opener.

Forget the engine. No Pulsar I have ridden handles and moves like a KTM. Ok I have not ridden the NS, but truly you cannot change the DNA of a bike. I would love for the new 250 and this 400 to buck that trend and be better handlers.

You can train any monkey to go fast in a straight line, as the famous biker saying goes. And Bajaj have now have had close to a quarter of a century to learn the black art of fine tuning the handling of a sports bike. Hell, their KB100 handled beautiful. Nearly 40 years ago.

I have strong reasons to believe in this production CAD rendering. I mean, look at the headlight setup! It is eerily similar to the newly-updated NS200, with the complete LED headlight unit.

This render shows off some bulky design lines, to cover up the radiator from the side and I'm happy with where the looks are going for this one!

I'll attach an image showing off how similar the headlight is on the new NS200 and this CAD render.

Also, I'm hoping that the base design lines for the NS400 will remain somewhat 'evolutionary' to the base NS200 design, to be shown as a next big offering in the same product line. So definitely we can see improved panel quality as seen on the New N250 (the one with the updated pale gold USD Forks). And I can see this quality improvement trickle down to the now-new NS200 a few years down the line, which will make the bike more appealing and up to the then-present standards for the new-gen customers.
