In continuation to the "Freedom" bike, Bajaj has continued with unusually longer seat.
Are these targeted towards delivery boys?

Re: 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS125 spotted testing ahead of launch

This Bajaj Pulsar NS125 has the vibes of the erstwhile Pulsar 135 LS all around! An evolution, perhaps?

Looks very much like an "elongated" version of the Pulsar 135 LS - pulled seat, pulled headlamp, pulled tank-extensions, pulled tail-end . The similar silhouette is unmistakable to my eyes - not the least 'coz I owned one.

Re: 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS125 spotted testing ahead of launch

Looks like even Bajaj will lose count of the number of pulsars in different shapes, sizes and engine cubic capacities that they have launched. They killed Discover brand with the earlier strategy and they want to do the same for the Pulsar range. Wishing them nothing but good luck!

Also, what's with the skinny spokes of the alloys. It looks like it might break anytime on Bangalore's roads.

Re: 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS125 spotted testing ahead of launch

Rather than just ranting, have to give credit where its due
  • This bike doesn't follow the usual Bajaj Template of "down sizing the engine with near identical looks borrowed from the higher cc models".
  • Looks fresh, handsome and has a distinct identity of its own and most importantly I do think this one can Pass of as a "Pulsar" successfully just in terms of looks. Certainly won't be mistaken for another model. (The Pulsar 135LS and the Pulsar P150 had failed to pass of as a Pulsar in its looks, despite having decent mechanicals.)
  • This one looks heavier than the reported (on Youtube) 125 Kgs of weight. Finally Bajaj Engineering is getting mature at making Lighter machines with Smooth Engines (the latest N- Series of Pulsars are reportedly one of the smoothest Pulsars)

The Pulsar Series

Original Gangster (OG) Series: Pulsar 125, Pulsar 150, Pulsar 220F

The "N" Series: Pulsar N125 (Latest), Pulsar N150, Pulsar N160, Pulsar N250

The Flagship "Naked Sports" Series: Pulsar NS125, Pulsar NS160, Pulsar NS200, Pulsar NS400Z

I consider the Faired Pulsar RS200 as an outlier.

  • Having Demand for 12 Different Variants is a feat
  • In my Opinion the Pulsar NS200 causes confusion and Bajaj should upgrade it to Pulsar NS250 (They just have to just borrow the engine from the KTM 250 Duke)
  • For a layman a 200 cc would ideally be "less premium" than a 220 cc (Pulsar 220F) and a 250 cc (Pulsar N250).

They already did this with Pulsar DTS-i.

Pulsar was once bigger brand than Bajaj itself . Instead of strengthening the badge by introducing more powerful and advanced models, Bajaj chose to dilute and trash the image of their once flagship.

I appreciate TVS in this regard. Though they are slow in development and in market response, they slowly made the Apache better and more appealing with each iteration.

Don't agree.

The sales numbers for the Pulsar Range is only growing by the day (Bajaj makes the most Money in the 2W business).

BTW for Bajaj, the Flagship are KTM and Triumph Models... the Pulsar is mass market brand in 2024.

Re: 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS125 spotted testing ahead of launch

Out of the three, TVS Raider, Bajaj Pulsar N125 and Hero Xtreme 125, I feel the Xtreme 125R looks much better, but falls short in terms of practicality with shorter rear seat, lack of storage (the Raider has a small storage space under seat)

As much as I love Pulsar brand and that it is bringing in sales for Bajaj, the fact remains that they haven't been able to make good use of their other OG brands with some really cool advertisements back in the 90s and 2000s. The 'Caliber' and 'Discover' brands specifically, they had a certain level of emotional connect and personality, irrespective of the kit and specs they came with. I feel that is completely lacking in the new bikes.

Caliber was associated with strong guys with a good heart.
Had a tagline, which went something like: Stands by you, through storms... and fate

For today's young people who are getting into biking, this is what we grew up watching

This is, in my books, the best ad ever. The music, song, and acting. Watch Vidya Balan's expressions showing how strong the wife is emotionally

I don't agree with this because Bajaj already has KTM, Triumph brands now which they have positioned as premium.

They want to position Pulsar as affordable performance which has been their focus while launching Pulsar NS400Z & I don't feel anything wrong in it since Pulsar brand has a good pull that helps Bajaj sell 20 year models as well in good numbers.

Re: 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS125 spotted testing ahead of launch

I had always wondered why no one have copied the RE's (Bullet, Classic) style of producing front suspension - Telesopic works that looks like USD forks and very chunky than actually it is.
TBH for a very long time during my initial months at biking I thought them to be USD forks.
Now Bajaj has did it albeit that looks very ugly
