I had gone for a testride on unicorn in vahan yatra(auto expo) in Bangalore and I found it very gr8. The engine is silky smooth and the dial look very good and detailing is very good. I found it better than the pulsar. But the only sad thing is that it lacks Electric starter and even a tripmeter!!! Even then I am prepared to compromise on these things and buying it soon and I also read in Autocar India that they will be introducing unicorn with Electric starter also. Finally I wold suggest you to go ahead and buy the bike.

I suggest Dan400 to wait for 2 reasons
1. As it is the waiting is 3 months , so by the end of 3 months , when the bike is available readily , I think the self start will definately have been introduced by then.

2. Also , if all goes well , Bajaj will have got its new Pulsar by then.
So u will have a choice.

Also with regards to Zma , its not recommended , if u are looking at fuel efficient bikes. its FE is close to 27-32 depending on rider.

The Pulsars and unicorns will definately deliver at least a minimumof 45-50 kmpl. Even P180 Dtsi returns 40+ kmpl .

dan400,
whats the FE of yr more than 10 year old CBR 400, just curious ?
I am guessing it to be approx 20 kmpl, since you drive quite decently and the bike seems to be in good condition.

Nevermind.

My bike gives approximately 15-18 kmpl. I don't think i can achieve anything more than that.

I'll again check the FE after few months as i'm busy with my exams now.
