Its a parallel twin.We are assuming it will come in FI guise but could be carburetted to keep the already high sticker price down.
Im all heart broken about the ninjas price. For around 3l i'd rather pick up a '97 cbr 400rr which my friend just sold.Just hope they change plans about getting it the cbu route and stick to the ckd plan.

Anyways lets not intrude the R15 thread with ninja gossip.

I reckon its the R1-5. The Ninja would be a more potent bike. 250 cc, parallel or V-twin, 30 BHP is what I think it should look like.

Its 32.16 bhp to be precise.

im talking about the r-15, will be gettin my license in august so i will finally be able to ride, need to get a hang of it though, i was thinking about the r-15 since i read the review on some foreign site that people have been calling it a "sportsbike learner" bike, anyone would like to shed some light on that?. my dad plans to buy a cbr 600 in jan next year too

Keep in mind that the Ninja 250 is a very popular bike with the women in the US and probably elsewhere too. In fact, the US website has a woman rider modeling for the 250 & the ZZR 600 . I personally have 2 women friends in the US who ride them so they consider this a learner's bike. Just because we have grown up on the 100's & 150's we think of this as a big bike.

Why don't you just wait for your dads CBR? :)

P.S - Why do I get the feeling I've met you at thakur?

Just back from the Yamaha showroom in Kormangala, they are taking bookings for the bike for Rs5000. Delivery is being promised on 1st week of June. They say that the price would be 92000-1lac, they dont have the exact details as it is yet to be announced from the company. 2 colours available Black and Blue. Strange thing is that they are talking the bookings and only documents/specs they have is are magazine pages. Still in a dilemma whether to stick with my old workhorse CBZ or sell it and go for this. What do you guys think?

Good point there,straight6. I've seen quite a few women on the ZZR600,and they handle these bikes pretty well.
People here start off with atleast 250cc,and then move upwards depending on their needs & experience.

The Ninja250 would be a good bet in the Indian market.

I've had the pleasure of a 250 ninja ZX-R for a day.
Its one of the best,if not the best , exhaust note.
250cc=little power. This combined with the ROAR makes for a superb show-off,city bike.
I dont know if its the same bike thats coming to India.

Guys,

one more update on R15.

A friend met up with this "Yamaha test rider" and probed to ask a few more details on the bike. he was reluctant to disclose any details. but only said one thing

20+ BHP.

YAMAHA bring it on.. give us a TD and we are all gonna queue up at your showroom to book this one....

DISCLAIMER: This is still not confimred information but i trust my friend if he says that he has really met up with a Yamaha test rider.

Did your friend see the specs or was it out or riding experience that he said it was more than 20 bhp?

By when can we expect the spares of this bike?!

I'm guessing it should be immediate since most of them will be manufactured in India. Same goes for the Ninja 250.

A friend of mine in Vashi enquired with a few dealers in Mumbai. No bookings until the launch date of 8th June.

bookings happening in hyderabad.

a friend of mine has already paid the booking amount.(i forgot to ask, how much was the booking amount)
His booking number is 48 and the showroom expects 7 bikes a week. So he will get his bike in 7th or 8th week after the bike is officially launched that also gives him adequate time test the R15 before buying.

HEy guys,
Just came home after booking my R15.I paid Rs5000 as advanc eto my local dealer. He says delivery will start from last week of June.

Do you have any idea about BHP of this bike??

Congratulations Veelubai, i guess you are the first tbhpian to book the R15. Will look forward to your updates

The R15 just doesnt sounds exciting enough. a 150cc single cylinder 4 stroke machine with 20bhp with a claimed top end of 145kmph, no goose bumps.
as Abhi said Bajaj should and definately bring in the ZX via the CKD route. Cant wait no more
