The joys of shining up a bike!

Hmmm so i was chatting with a friend one day, who has a RXZ 4 speed, converted into a 5spd. He recently got his chassis repainted, but the body parts werent painted. So he tells me they need to be painted, while i said duh dont do it, if you want i'll shine it up for you. He said yeah right, so okay just left it as-is.

Few days later while chatting he says i'm not using my bike, why dont you use mine instead to office? Said okay, anyways Iwas bored with my bikes. Got his bike, next day did some minor shineup so that I dont end up on the road with something that resembles an ancient bike.

Two days later on a saturday morning, thought i'll shine this up. So really got down to work. 3 hours, completed just the tank and fairing. phew! take a look at the results.

PS : The bike has the original 11 year old paint on it.

Before : I havent taken any before pics :-( so this is a pic that the owner had taken sometime back.

The fairing, before. Was a local paintjob, had ugly overspray on it.

Last pic, the orange+red house is a good 60ft away. Get a perfect mirror reflection of everything :-)

Got him on chat that evening. sent him the pic. For the next 10mins, the ony messages he sent were "OMG" and "OMFG" hehe :-D wish i was there to see the expression on his face :-D

Come sunday, spent another 4 hours and finished the bike. Phew! Dont have pics of the complete bike, will take em in the morning if possible and post it.

PS : I have NOT used any wax or polish whatsoever all that shining is due to the proper paint correction at the bottom most level. tried polish on a small patch, but saw no improvement, hence abandoned the idea of putting any polish on the bike.

Complete bike. The red stripe lost bit of color :-(

The tank. Mirror with scratches. It is a BIG mirror, nonetheless

Can you notice the overhead power lines reflection? That tank spills details

Haven't taken closeups of the side panels fairings and front fender. bike was given for repairs yesterday so all that area is covered in oily fingerprints.

lacquer? Without the compressor, paint gun etc? :S nope. Rubbing compound? You're close. I shoud have posted some high res pics, all the scratches on the bike are intact. only the swirl, hazing and mild oxidisation have been taken care of

Turtle Wax and 3M rubbing compunds (few brands call them polishing compund) are good and give a good result.
