Sound from disc brake - Enfield Bullet

When I apply the disc brake on my bull, there is sound that goes like...ssrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.Like a watch ticking in fast forward.I hear it only when Iam moving fast, not in stop-start traffic.

I went to the service center with this query and they said its due to the meter guage ticking over.Is it normal?

Edit:If its due to meter guage, why don't I hear it all the time?

Your brake pads may be worn out.

Even then check the fitment of brake pad with the disc.

The sound to me doesnt seem to come from down below near the tyre,it seems more closer to the headlamp cluster.

Maybe it's originating from the inner cable of your speedometer cable !

are you sure your front fork sleeve is not scuffing against the mudguard? If I am getting it right then its normal. That noise you mention is due to the front cross drilled disk and its not an issue, just the way it is.

@Randhawa:The fork sleeve sure is scuffing but it doesn't seem to be getting worse.I mean the scuff marks are the same at 1000km as they were at 150km.

Do you have that noise too?Its not too loud just a faint one and hard to hear in traffic.Even the pillion can't hear it.

Yes Sir I have that noise on my C5 as well on my beemer wich has vented cross drilled disc. So enjoy your black beauty Now I am sure it's just the noise from the disc on yours which comes on any cross drilled disc.

No problems Doc, I'll let you know by that time make a list of things you are not sure about or things which are bothering you. Most probably it will be on a weekend.

+1 on that! Check brake pads and their fitment. At times they are defective. And yes..if the srrrrrrr sound is really low on volume, then ita perfectly nomal as it a ventilated disk, so the noise comes up because of the holes rubbing the pads.
