Sunny, my clarification is that you said if GTP etched on the rings means Goetze correct? How do we identify an ART rings? Any codes/etching to recognize?

No they aren't. You can clearly see Goetze Logo before Yamaha 09L SP on the last pic. Goetze rings will have GTP written on the rings.
I am to buy the foot rest yet, are you sure about the 5 speed footrest being superior cause my present foot rest keeps getting loose and shaky all the time and it really risks the ride and I want something sturdy.

Oops don't tell me the kit is goetze. So is that a problem ?

@Visaster:- Post the picture of Piston as well. The inside should have ART embossed. With regards to rings don't worry, Goezte rings are decent.
I have not even opened the piston box. I will do that first thing I get back home and post it.
Yeah kinda thought the rings were not part of the kit.
Can you make out whether rings are in the size for the first over size piston?

If you are planning to have 5 speed foot rest, then you might need to change the kicker to 5 speed (kinda straight) one too. Else what happens is that, 4 speed and RX100 kickers are the same curvy might get stuck in the footrest by not meeting the stopper welded on to the assembly. Watch out.

Ok. No problem. To find out the size of the rings, the cover has 58-25mm. That's the first over size.

What a rip off.

...But then again I dont trust any Yamaha packed stuff with a date past 2007. 99% of them are fakes.
I really don't get what you are trying to say.
None of the stuff which I got looks like the original. Correct me if I am wrong.

What you have got it right. Yamaha piston kits come with art pistons and goetze rings. I've said the same in my previous post. Art pistons have 4y201 embossed inside. Interested to know what about the piston makes you say its not genuine.

I did not say its not genuine but I thought you said so.
So except the piston everything else is goetze even in Y.A.S.S. ?
Then my piston kit might be original after all, got confused.
Yep it has got those embossed.
But the piston top is really rough.

It is not a possibility as far as I hear.
They have stopped production and only source will be from some stockist/dealer for a premium price.
But you can get it from east Asian countries.

I don't think you were miss informed. Fact is that there is no factory shop in Chennai. In Chennai you'll not get ART piston for sure. We in Chennai are unfortunate. The Factory shop is in only few places in India, Mumbai, Pune and there was also in Gurgaon and not sure if it is still in operation. May be there are few more that I'm not aware.

Hi any luck with the rebore process.
Hows your rebuild going?
Mine came to a stand still for a month and now again kit started the buying process.
Meanwhile the engine got seized on a half an hour traffic jam in Chennai heat and chaos.
Getting major noise and can't wait to get the bike repaired.
