Mine came to a stand still for a month and now again kit started the buying process.
Meanwhile the engine got seized on a half an hour traffic jam in Chennai heat and chaos.
Getting major noise and can't wait to get the bike repaired.
Visakan - Kindly call me so that I can help the best way possible. Infact I have not seen the bike (apart from office parking some months ago).

My RX100 restoration is complete. check the link as given below for the pics.

That's a great looking bike. Looks like its just out of the showroom.
Good job sir. Just 2 days. Amazing. Store well.

Well my bike is in a bad shape to look, at this point compared it what it was few months back.

anyways expect a call soon.

I need a complete strip, engine work(only bore and piston) and refit. Paint the extras. Cosmetics - Tank, side shield, tires, seat and extras will be new.

Re: Reincarnating my beast RX135

Latest update.
Slowly all the parts which are required to be changed are almost purchased.
Got to plan when to do the strip.
Decided to get the bike rebore done in Chennai itself.
At the same place the authorized service people get it done.
Fingers crossed on it.
Well only last thing left for decision is a painter. Considering the monsoon.
Photos of the parts purchased soon to come.

I was quoted 20k + parts for the job at the showroom.
I have already spent a good 9K on just basic parts, excluding tank and side shield.
So I wonder where is the cut off limit.

Re: Reincarnating my beast RX135

I am totally disconnected from motorcycles these days. I am planning a RX project shortly.
Is it easy to source RX parts these days? How much can I pay for a 2000 RX135 in bad condition. Engine seems to be ok.
Any info will be helpful.

Yamaha RX135 5 Speed Engine Overhaul

Bought my first two stroke RX135 5 Speed sometime in mid of 2012.
As i clocked some miles i started enjoying the power characteristics & the puzzle of so many two stroke fans was solved.

I used to ride a karizma earlier & trust me i enjoy the Rx more. Later put in a local expansion chamber and she was more fun.

As i clocked more miles and the time to service her arrived i got the shock of my life. It was 4 speed block When looked around for a 5 speed block people were quoting 9 & 10K.

Pic's -

Later sold the bike for a little loss & bought a 5 Speed with 5 Speed Block.
While people were quoting 9 & 10K for just a 5 speed block i got the complete bike for 15K.

She was not that great in condition but who cared the difference between a 4 Speed & 5 Speed blocks power characteristics was day and night.

As i clocked more miles the engine sound too increased and it was time for an Engine Overhaul.

Few Pics -

Re: Yamaha RX135 5 Speed Engine Ovehaul

Get the forks changed to the Fz 150 forks (helps counter unwanted lift). Handle lock to the R15 1st gen wherein side lock need not be used. And always use the 2t oil tank for premix purposes. Disk brakes since you are used to the braking of a karizma.

Oh yeah get a twin horn for the bike like the pulsars, because it's stock horn is next to mute!

Happy 2 stroking.

Re: Reincarnating my beast RX135

Can anyone help me with a new RX 135 black tank and side shield.
The Rx100 pattern is not to my liking.
Please help.
My bike has been stripped finally.
Today I will be inspecting the internals of the engine and check what needs to be changed and give a go on it.
Running on a very tight budget so things will replaced only on need to change basis.
Soon I will update on the parts I have finally acquired over a year now.

RX135 tank please... Any possibility?

How to understand the difference between 4 speed & 5 speed engine block?

Do you mean that earlier bike was having a modified gear box?

Re: Reincarnating my beast RX135

The engine was demounted from the bike yesterday.

Reincarnating my beast RX135-bike.jpg

Engine opened up for the first time in the life of the bike.
Running on stock engine for the past 14yrs.
Anyways the piston is completely gone. Major carbon accumulation in the bore and head.

Connecting rods needs change.

First over size planned.
Work will start over the long weekend.
Bore sent to Bangalore for the needed work.
Some more parts bought.

Lots and lots more to be bought yet. Going shopping...

Nice looking.

Rear mudguard seems too much lifted, was that intentionally made?
Also the wheelbase is set to least position (rear wheel position) I suppose. Adding another link to the chain and pulling the wheel towards rear will add more character to the bike.
