Thank you sir for your valuable inputs. I had read your xuv thread post by post very keenly, so informative and interesting! I must admit your thread can partially be blamed in finalizing the xuv decision.
Actually when I first heard that sound that sentence of your "this is my most expensive car and I won't accept any niggle with the car "... something like this sounded into my ears!
Also since I moved from the reliable honda which even after 10 years in service can move over any surface without any unwanted sound from the setup it's kind of comparison all the time. But nonetheless I am thoroughly enjoying every moment behind the xuv wheel! :D
On the Run-in part sir I would like to mention again that company manual only tells to drive smoothly and keep 1800-2200. ain't it?!

Hi guys,

I recently drove a friend's new 2013 W6 and found the suspension to be really soft as it rolled over the speed bumps with ease. It also felt well planted on the tarmac and i just loved the entire feel of it.

In comparison, my 2012 W8 appears to have a harder suspension and going over the hard-plastic-like bumps rattles the entire vehicle (especially when not fully loaded).

Has there been an upgrade to suspension setup in the newer vehicles? And can i get mine upgraded?

Perhaps this has to do with the balancer bar bushes. Replacing them with newers ones, usually softens the ride quality. Try it and let us know.

There was a significant suspension upgrade done to the XUV500 in late 2013 along with lots of other improvements. Almost like a REV 2.0.

Thanks for the update Mudha and Vid. This proves the massive difference i felt across both cars.

So the bigger question, is Mahindra happy to upgrade the old customers with all these changes? Has anyone here gotten the shockers/brakes upgrade?

This was an expressway drive, including a climb up the Khandala ghat section. I used the tankfull to tankfull method to calculate mileage. Cruise control was set to 70kmph [except in the ghat section ofcourse], AC was set at 25 [which is my everyday setting]. No sudden acceleration, no sudden braking.

Is there a problem fitting additional Roots Horn in the XUV W8 ? The Mahindra guys not recommending me to fit additional horns . Even the Mahindra service centre wont fit them . I had no troubles like this in my Hyundai service. I don't think the stock horn is loud enough on the highways to alert the truck drivers. The RM told me that there wont be much trouble if done in a proper way. But they cant explain whats the proper way. And they wont install them too and warranty will be void if installed in the accessories shop. I know that separate thick wiring with Relay, is recommended from the battery itself . But he was unable to answer whether there is separate ECU for electronics or one ECU for all.
Existing owners could kindly give some suggestions on fitting Roots horn and also Hella 4000 is in my cards too.

I have fixed Hella Red Grill in my W8. I just replaced the existing horns with the Hella pair. I have no issues so far. Took my vehicle couple of times to the service center and i am sure the technicians would have definitely noticed the horn difference while using it. No complaints from them. Maybe its a case of you asking them to do it and its their duty to tell that all such accessories will void your warranty.

I have been using Roots vibrosonic for the last 4500 kms with out any issues, have not replaced relay, but only altered the pin type attachment to conventional wire and screw type attachment. I also have purchased auxiliary lights for my car and am planning to carry it to the service station next time i visit to ask them for an opinion on how to fix it.

Gave my XUV for the first servicing (5000 Kms) at TVS Kochi.
They said the expected cost would be around Rs 2500.
Is that normal?

I am cross checking because TVS Kochi is notorious for over charging

I paid Rs 2016. It included engine oil, oil filter, disposable seat linings

Is the price increase due to inflation over the period of time??

Cost seems normal. I paid Rs 1950 fifteen months ago (details here).
