Hey there,
We own a 2016 Ford Ecosport 1.5L P MT Trend variant and up until now the ownership has been fairly uneventful with a few minor bumps and bruises on the bumper but nothing major.
However, after shifting base in June of this year from Kochi to Vishakapatnam, it hasn't been as easy with the Ford Service Center here.
Recently, the check engine light and ABS warning light were glowing which warranted an immediate trip to the service center where we were informed that the wire had broken off of the connector due to age and they had ordered a pair of connectors which would arrive within 2 weeks.
After 3 weeks of limited usage and no communication from Ford, upon calling the service manager, was informed that it is not possible to procure just the connector and the entire wiring harness of the ABS module and Wheel speed sensor will have to be replaced to the tune of ~30k.
Shocked at the quote, my father and I decided to try our hand at fixing it because "if we fix it, we save 30k and if we don't we learn something" wise words, I must say.
Jacked up the front right wheel and placed a few wood blocks for safety and saw the fault right away. The wire, which seemed to have previously been repaired by means of soldering had broken off of the connector.
Tried a few times to solder it back to no avail but finally managed to get it to hold. Our joy was short lived when we realized that the continuity test failed.
Found an ABS sensor assembly and wiring harness on boodmo for approximately 3k but was skeptical as to the compatibility with our car.
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks
SB

The steering came with factory fitted leather wrapping and I just put on a cover to protect the original one after some rough edges showed up. |
Just managed this today, and I am yet to take he car out for a drive. Sure that the wheel feels a bit chunky. I got this wheel cover for 350 from Amazon

Would love to know how you managed this. Can you suggest?

Sharing a quite a deserved update for my Silver Ford. This year is special for my car since it is on its 10th Year, Hit 1,00,000 KM on the ODO and i think I did give it a much-deserved attention.
In the last couple of years we did managed a few exclusive family trips across to a select few favorite hill stations, and gave the car some decent ride on the ODOs. We did two Munnar Trips, One Vagamon, Couple of the usual Bathery - Kochi rides and end of Nov this year, did a decent 750KM drive in 4 days through Kochi - Ooty - Mudumalai - Bandipur - Sulthan Bathery and then back to Kochi.
Our regular pitstop onroute Munnar at Farmyard, Adimali
Munnar Gap road, in Oct 2023
Parked in front of our room at a resort in Chinnakanal, May 2024
Right in front of our room at Arcadu, Ooty
But when the roads aren't motorable, we switch at Vagamon. Right on tracks were Mahindra, Isuzus and Gurkhas test their new off roaders at Vagamon Heights.
Family get bigger and when big brother visits, we have the space problem
Now getting into a few updates to the car.
1. Under Hood cover replaced - the hood costed only 1900, but a set of clips came up to 1000
2. Rear wheel inner cover replaced at around 3K.
3. Added dual channel dash cam - 70Mai A500s
4. Added a basic cover for Gear lever & Handbrake as the gear knob cover was peeling off.
5. Fighting cockroaches, my steering wheel had afew rough edges - added a steering wheen cover again from Amazon.
6. Child bolster seats: One of the best additions, for my elder daughter who is 8 - now the front seat seat belt is much comfortable and she can enjoy those long drives.
7. Sourced a set of wiper blades through the local ecosport owners club and that happens to be the best wiper blades I ever had.
8. Replaced the whole 5 tyres with another fresh set of Yoko Earth1s, though my older ones had a decent 5K + left in them.
Inner Wheel cover did some decent 1L KM
Inner wheel arch when the cover was taken off. My Monroe rear suspensions are also showing its age and may have to replace - kept aside for 2025
Missed the 1L mark on a long drive and realised that when I reached home.
Gear knob with the cover.
Steering wheel with new cover
So the new dash is like..

Hi,
I have recently purchased a pre owned Ecosport 1.5 L Trend+ AT. Looking to get couple of things done asap.
1. Transmission oil change. I tried searching online about this but couldn't get much information. If any one has got it changed then kindly let me know which oil is to be used and what amount. Also, is it is a complex task which should be done at FASS or can it be done by any FNG.
2. Cruise control installation. If anyone from Delhi NCR has got it done then please guide where and how should I get it installed.
Thanks

I also have the same issue of dust inside the right headlamp, noticed it while getting the headlamp mounts repaired which broke out of the blue, no impact.
Could you find any effective diy method?? |
I am trying to find a long thin-nozzled extension that could be attached to vacuum cleaner or tyre inflator. Wanted to insert that through bulb holder slot and see if I could dislodge dirt layer.
No success on finding the extension yet.

The ubderhood insulation was replaced for free by my local Ford dealer on my 2015 ecosport, I was informed that it was a part of a recall ( as it should be, that insulation has been saggy for years for no good reason).
I don't know why they charged you for it.

Oh, I did not know it was part of a recall. I got the underhood insulation replaced during my last annual service. They did not even inform me about this

Neither did I, the dealer in Noida actually wanted to charge me for the sagging hood liner but I thought of just trying some jugarh fix for it first on my own rather than paying money for a cheap liner that will likely also collapse soon.
A month later I went in for an oil change at tanish Ford gurgaon and they just changed the hood liner on their own, and informed me that there was a recall from Ford for these, i didn't ask them to look into it or anything. I believe it is the dealers responsibility to be aware of these and I am quite surprised how the Noida dealer wanted to charge me for this.

That doesn't sound like it'll work..
I had removed the headlamps to work on them in my backyard. The access is only through the high beam lamp, which is quite narrow. The dust itself sticks by static or something..i doubt it'll be dislodged by suction or blowing air.
Hello Everyone.
I have an incident to share. I have a 2018 Ecosport Diesel, Titanium variant. As of the time of writing this, I have clocked over 201000 kms on this car.
So I had just gotten the car back after its 200,000 km service, pretty uneventful stuff. I keep shuttling between Chandigarh and my hometown, a distance of around 300 km one way, and was on another such drive on the NH152D. Cruising at 100 kmph, the power suddenly cut off, the dreaded spanner indicator and 'see manual' was displayed on the dashboard.
Now, I had already faced this issue 20-30k kms back and had gotten the car repaired for what was supposedly a chafed wire, at FASS Chandigarh. On earlier instances of this spanner thing appearing, I had always been able to restart the car and continue on my journey, albeit cautiously.
However, on this instance, the car started, the RPMs jumped up and down, and it turned off again. Tried 4-5 times, same result.
Called the RSA, they sent a truck which reached my location in about 2 hours, which was quite impressive. The live location of the truck was shared with me, but it didn't get updated as they sent another driver instead of the designated one, number of the new driver was shared with me, after asking for it.
They dropped the car at FASS in my hometown, who upon inspection told me that 2 of the injectors had malfunctioned. I opted to have them repaired at an FNG recommended (off the record) by a Ford mechanic , who had to put on new 'caps' on them.
Now, according to the FNG and the said mechanic, the car should be problem free for three years or so left of its registered life in Delhi-NCR. I am somewhat skeptical about the repairs done, as I'm not sure if the chief complaint was correctly identified and addressed, having already gotten the car repaired for the same thing earlier at Ford Chandigarh.
Has anyone faced the same issue, or any other issues with the diesel injectors? Would it be prudent to sell off this car? I have a budget of around 15L and I'm not certain that I'll get a car which is as good to drive as the Ecosport within my budget.

The 1.5 TDCI used Bosch injectors which didn't have the problem of the 1.4 with Continental injectors and usually should not give any trouble unless bad fuel was used.
Suggest you visit a Bosch car service centre and get the injectors checked once to validate if what the service guys are saying is correct.
Got the super cool Puma digital cluster and it has truly transformed the driver cabin experience. Absolutely loving it :D
I have a couple of peculiar issues with my 2018 Titanium S which I'm a bit stumped by.
The car has been absolute joy, and I just crossed the 60k milestone over an impromptu road trip from Bangalore to Goa. The car is impeccable mechanically, but there are a couple of trim pieces that I need to replace, and I can't source them anywhere.
1. Rubber finished window garnish (or is this a weather strip) Some time last year, the small rubber piece on the RR-RH quarter panel fell off and I just can't find where to source the replacement for it, I'll happily get all 6 pieces since it's only a matter of time that the others start failing. All I can find are the chrome ones, while I need the black ones.
2. The leather boot of the gearlever and the parking brake have started to crack and peel apart, and I need to replace these as well.
Any thoughts on where I ought to look up?

Hi there!
I recently replaced everything that you mentioned, parts were arranged by FASS, though it took them 8-10 days to get hold of them.

Woah ! This is absolutely amazing :) You should post more images / videos of this event.
Hiii guys! So good to be now a part of this thread in which I can contribute, owing to the fact that I got an Ecosport 2018 T+ TDCi last August.
It was a sweet sweet deal, and I am verrry happy with the purchase, and she is turning out to be every single bit I was hoping.
The transition from a Honda City automatic, to a manual Diesel was also blissful as I am not having any major issues with the clutch or the gearbox - as my usage is 30% City and 70% open roads / highway.
I have clocked around 10,000 KMs under my ownership and have crossed the 97500 KMs total mark on the odometer, and she's running along nicely.
I made a few cosmetic additions - racing stripe kit (which makes her look extremelyyy hot), illuminated door sills, sporty pedal covers, and rear spoiler - all official Ford accessories, couldn't believe how cheap I got them for, plus a day 1 addition of 70Mai dashcam.
I recently did a long trip of Mumbai - Ahmedabad and back for the Coldplay concert, solo drive on the return leg, and I was amazed that I did the whole journey in 10 hours flat without need more than one fuel break and one snacks break, it was very comfortable, and I really like the upright sitting posture in the Ecosport as compared to the seating on sofa posture of the Honda City. Plus never had to worry about any speed breakers or potholes and the underbody scraping. I am in love with the car.
HELP: While the previous owners has installed good projector 4100K warm LEDs for the low beam, I want to upgrade the bulbs of fog lamps and for the high beam.
While I hate blinding the oncoming traffic, I am very stringent follower of the "use high beam only when absolutely necessary" rule, but for me to be able to do that, I need a strong and bright throw of the low beam (which is good) but I need powerful fog lamps.
Any suggestions please? Tried and tested ones please, I don't want to experiment, just install the good VFM ones and be done with it.
I would also like the option of having strong high beams, but that's a second priority after fogs.
Upcoming planned expenses: A made to order grill, painting the rims white (contemplating), stage 1 tuning, along with some few interior cosmetic colour changes with the help of hydro-dipping!
