Guys, the Bluetooth app was showing low tire pressure, in the range of 28 psi for all the four tyres, yesterday morning. So after a drive of about 4-5 kms, from home, filled up air from a local petrol pump. Filled 32 psi in all the 4 tyres.

Checked again in evening, in my office basement parking, and this is what it shows. Any areas of concern? Is this due to either the sensor in the car or the air pump being slightly inaccurate. I don't think a mere 5km drive would have heated my tyres to such an extent that 1psi less air is filled.

Since the drive is too short for tyres to heat up, I'll suggest you to either get a tyre pressure gauge as an option to cross-check what is being displayed by the App is correct or no and at the same time, why not try filling air from another fuel station.

The one you filled may not have a calibrated pressure sensor to give out correct readings.

I have observed this. It is due to the improper calibration at the petrol pump air filling side. Only at one pump I saw that it was calibrated correctly. I usually fill a little higher pressure, like about 34-35, so that it shows the optimum pressure in tiretronics

No two watches ever agree. So do the tyre pressure gauges. :D

I check the cold tyre pressure myself using VIAIR portable compressor and VIAIR digital tyre pressure gauge at home. All the 3 readings of the analogue tyre pressure gauge of the portable compressor, digital tyre pressure gauge and XUV 500 Blue Sense App match, well, more or less. clap:

I have the resQtech portable tyre inflator. Maybe I should just top it up using that. Will use the app to monitor when it reaches 32- 32.5 psi and then move on to the next tyre.

How are you getting the tyre temps as well in the BlueSense app along with all the other info regarding optimal pressures?

My app just shows me the tyre pressures and below that where the spare pressure should be it just shows Optimal pressure value.

I am running the New Age XUV app. Is yours the same or the one for the classic XUV?

Same is the case with me. After I took the delivery of my vehicle, next day, after taking appointment, the XUV specialist was at home to explain the vehicle in detail. He took quite a time to explain everything in detail. Though he is an appointee of the Show Room, he was claiming that he was from Mahindra. I also let him be as he though, just to give him a feel good:)

Blue Sense app for the old age XUV 500 shows tyre temperature in addition to the pressure. Also, the app for the new age XUV 500 indicates one optimum tyre pressure 32 psi for all the tyres, but the app for the old age XUV 500 recommends 30 psi for the rear tyres and 32 psi for the front ones.

Ravi Sir,

The old age XUV app won't work on the new age one, right?

Has you tried using the New-age XUV app on your XUV?

I've just installed the classic XUV app on my phone. Will test and see if it works on the New Age XUV when I go to the service station this afternoon.

One question for experienced AWD users:

How exactly does one know when AWD is active? Is there any indication on the dash or MID? I've taken my purple monster on som slushy roads and there was no indication whatsoever whether she (my daughter has decided the XUV is a she, being Opulent Purple and all :)) was in AWD or FWD mode - no blinking icons, no MID message, nothing. The manual does say the AWD icon will light up if there is an AWD system failure, but says nothing about its indicating AWD engagement.

Pardon my ignorance, as this is my first AWD vehicle, and my first prolonged experience in an AWD XUV.

I don't know. But then, one cannot take Mahindra for granted. :D

Same here on the new age xuv bluesense app. Also on the new age xuv information app the checklist does not go beyond the option for the 17 digits VIN no. For personal details.
With you hamesha app though is working flawlessly.

Ravi sir, It's wonderful the temperature also is indicated along with pressure. I wonder if it's a software issue with the new age xuv bluesense app. It may just be cost cutting in the face-lift avatar so that the temperature sensor itself maybe missing. :Frustrati

First AWD for me as well, so may not be qualified to answer. My understanding is that the AWD is "always on" and it delivers more power to the rear wheels when the sensors feel the need. We can obviously lock into the AWD, which means that the car will run in that mode only.

I read somewhere that the default is 60:40 for front:rear wheels, and that becomes 50:50 when AWD gets activated. Am not sure if 60:40 as default is very efficient for regular city driving.

My understanding is that the ITM system normally operated in FWD mode, but transfers power to the rear wheels in a 60:40 ratio (front:rear) when it detects slippage on the front wheels. AWD lock will permanently (till disengaged) lock the front and rear axles in a 50:50 power distribution ratio.

What I would like to know is whether the icon will blink when AWD is active (ie power is being transferred to the rear wheels), just as the ESP light will blink when the system is active.

I think a little (make that a lot) more slushing is required to understand the system. Too bad the car will need a lot of washing in the coming weeks, especially as the 5000 km service is being done today. (Why oh why Team-BHP no devilish grin emoji that I can insert here????)

Sadly the rains seem to be on hiatus here, so the slushy bits are all turning dry just as I most need them to be super duper extra slushy.lol:

Just realized that I had a soft copy of the manual downloaded on my office laptop. Went to the relevant section and it corroborates what you say, except that it does not mention any ratios. The AWD lamp comes on when you lock the AWD, so I guess it should light up even when it gets activated on its own.
