I had written to NEXA earlier this week asking about the possible discontinuation of 1.6. However, this is the reply that I got :

I am in the same boat, i.e. while I did like the 1.6 engine, my purchase is planned for next year. If the S Cross gets discontinued, Creta would certainly emerge a strong contender.

I am in the same boat as you mate. If the S-Cross MJD 1.6 gets discontinued then I have to look elsewhere. I was looking for an upgrade next year. Creta 1.6 CRDi will be one of the option for me as well.
I have another issue with the S-Cross. Why did Maruti put such poor shoes (JK Elanzo) on their "premium" car? Is that for cost cutting? What other cost cutting they have carried out on their "premium" car? Tyre is an external component and "wear" and "tear" can be observed. But it will not be easy to observe wear and tear for other internal components. Does not give me a great deal of confidence. Even if the 1.6 gets continued it might be worthwhile to observe long term ownership reviews to understand any issues or non-issues.

Completely agree mate. I must admit that (as recently as this week) I have been sorely tempted to exchange my 4.5 year old Swift (just done 35k) in exchange for the S Cross after multiple test drives. It is indeed a good all round product, albeit quite pricey- but then again, its competitors are also similarly or higher priced.
However, better sense prevailed and I have managed to fight the inner demons :D and hold on till next year, the primary reasons being funds and also the wish to observe long term ownership experiences on this forum.
The tires and alloys remain a mystery to me as well. Why would they equip their flagship product with bad tyres and ugly alloys? Beats me whichever way I think about it.

I've read that S-Cross's underbelly is protected using a metal sheet, and you cannot see the ground. Yesterday when I opened the bonnet I could see a bit of the ground. Metal sheet needs to be removed only while changing the oil right? Mine has completed just 8k km and oil is yet to be changed for the first time. BTW A stupid school bus scratched our driver side front fender and we got it repaired from MASS. Is this normal. Last time I opened the bonnet (before sending it to MASS a week ago) I think couldn't see the ground . |
This is absolutely normal. I had the same question too when I first opened the bonnet of my 1.3.
I asked the same question here in this forum and also checked all the 1.3 and 1.6 SCross that I came across when I took mine for the first and second service. All cars have this opening at under the engine and the service rep mentioned that it is left open for ease of access for maintenance work.

Absurd stuff.
They had my money with them for 1.6 Delta and returned saying it couldn't be delivered!
Seems some marketing calculation by Maruti stopping them short of official announcement. It will be sure embarrassment for them. May be they are afraid of sales being adversely affected for remaining DDiS 320s.

A new TVC on S-Cross is available on NEXA website. Curiously mention of DDiS 320 conspicuously left out though 6 gear knob is visible.
Has it been prompted by May 16 sale figures of S-cross? |
I saw this commercial in a Malayalam movie channel today quite a number of times. It was beaming in almost all commercial breaks.
Checked the air filter on my 320DDIS and found so much dust @ 7500 kms.
Wonder how it will last 40k kms in our conditions.

I did clean my filter also last week and fortunately did not see so much of dust, though there were few flowers from the road side trees. I think this might be because, I rarely use the fresh air mode and keep the AC most of the times in recycle mode.
Wait a second, this filter is inside the cabin. That mean, this is the dust from inside?

40k KMs? Isn't the air filter supposed to be replaced at every 10K service?

As per user manual of S-cross, it has to be replaced after 40k kms only.
Will know the real scenario @ 10k service.

Rs 910
Labour cost would be extra or part of the service cost.

This filter looks very similar to the one I too cleaned. Can you please clarify whether this is the filter behind the glove box?

If this is the filter behind the glove box, then all you need to do is remove the glove box by just pressing both sides of the glove box a bit and it simply slides out exposing the filter box. You just open the front cover of the filter box by pressing the edges and get the filter out.
