Completed 50K KMs today. Was returning from Thrissur to Bangalore. Wonderful drive. Need to give for 50K service.

Just returned from a trip to Mussorie. Total distance travelled is 708 Kms.
The drive involved around 140 kms of hill drive and the rest on plains. The driving was really controlled with a cruise set at 90 KMPH on the plains. The odo reads 4500+ so preparing my elephant for the 5000 kms service ina few days. Here are my observations for my 1.3 S Cross:

1. The car has unmatched comfort for both the driver and the passenger. The seats are well positioned and driving the car is a fun.

2. Performance seems to be an issue especially the turbo lag at RPM levels below 2000. Overtaking on uphill even in second shift seems to be difficult for the car until the threshold of 2000 RPM is reached. Uphill in third shift seems like impossible for the car with frequent shifts to the second to gain some traction. But it is possible that this lag is there in other cars too. I drive a Honda City petrol and it is a powerful machine with no lags whatsoever the speed.

3. The economy is again posing an issue for me. For the whole trip, I got an economy of 17.41 kmpl which I think is way too less. Again I would ask for comments from the experienced members. Can I expect some pick up in mileage after the 5000km service? Should I wait or talk to the company people about this issue.

4. Lastly tips for the 5000 km service? What should I expect on the cost front and what all will be done?

Thanks a lot :)

3. Should improve with more kilometers under the belt
4. No cost, it is just a general check up. Should be in/out in 2 hours tops unless its a busy service center

Now that similarly weighing Brezza is coming with AMT:

Can we hope that S-cross too will sport AMT soon?

The AMT is so jerky, hope when it comes, it gets the CVT, at least for its premium offering

A little OT. I wish we have a comparison thread between S Cross, EcoSport and Nexon. The sub 10 lac market is growing and these three are the most worthy contenders in compact SUV/crossover segment. It will of great help for everyone to make a decision based on an elaborate thread discussion.

Agreed, my folks have been travelling with me on long distances. The car is comfortable on highways.

Shifting to 3rd is the worst thing to do during inclines. I recently did a trip to Spiti Valley and went to 3rd only on a few stretches. I climbed some steep roads in 2nd gear.

FE will improve. This is what I got last week after driving for 260 kms to Chandigarh from Ghaziabad.

Wooowww. This looks amazing. This is exactly what I have been looking for. Can you please tell more about your trip. The average speed that you maintained and other specs. I am again travelling to Jaipur and back on 20th of May. A trip of around 1500 kms, before that will give my car for 5000 km service also. So hoping for a turn around during that trip.

Please notice, his car has completed 72K kms and your is pending for 5K service. In my experience, car gets better mileage after 10K kms if properly run.

Any news on petrol S-Cross launch in India? Family is considering a new car and from the looks of it, the Tiago and Brio are the only ones that seem to pose any value. Would be nice to buy a bigger vehicle, but the Ciaz/City/Yaris just don't cut it. Both my dad and I agree that if the S-Cross is launched soon with a petrol motor, that would be the ideal car for us to buy. Unfortunately I don't have any idea if Maruti is even bothered to do so.

Nothing much, I maintained speeds between 80-90 Kmph mainly due to the interceptors (counted 5 on that day!). :D

Your car is new and FE will improve as you clock more miles.

To the owners here, in this scorching heat, don't you'll feel the need for rear ac vents? I feel the need in my small ritz, scross being much bigger , doesn't it get uncomfortable in his horrible hot weather?

Yes, this is a big disadvantage of this car.

My Mother keeps complaining for the first few minutes. MSIL should have introduced rear vents in the face-lift.
