The reviews of Jimny and Fronx mention how all seatbelts have to be plugged in at all times, even if no one is occupying thos seats. Has that 'feature' made it to to 2023 Ignis as well? It does not make any sense to me. Am considering purchasing the Ignis Zeta MT variant in Bangalore to tackle our potholed roads, but this seatbellt 'feature' is making me consider buying a second Punch. |
Yes, my cousin got one in Oct ‘23 and the rear seat belts have to be buckled irrespective of the occupants.

That's unfortunate :sadface usually my mom sits at the back when i drive. if she steps out and is gone, i'll have to do some stretches to get the belt back in. looks like maruti cars are out of contention.
My Ignis 1.2 MT Delta update on year 4: running excellent, feels like a bike in city, small footprint yet spacious, handles very well. But on year 4 right side tie rod got bent after ramming an e rickshaw coming on the wrong side. Wonder how it happened. No visible damage on the bumper too. Guess the sudden stop with the steering turned a bit did it. Other than that, all good. Tyres are stock size Continental UC6. Silent, good grip and improves Ignis handling much more.
Has anyone retrofitted the seat height adjust on Zeta variant? Dealership says it's doable as they need to change to the Alpha variant seat and no electronics involved.
Yes, got it done on wife’s 2017 Ignis Zeta amt, you need to change the base frame and the plastic height adjust lever. It is a direct fit. Procured the base frame from the service centre, base foam can be reused, even the zeta seat cloth can be used, but for the sake of aesthetics got the alpha seat base cloth, height and back adjust levers from boodmo. The fitting was done by a seat expert in my city. It looks as good as original Alpha variant. Total cost was around ₹6500/- in 2019.

So I am facing a weird issue with my 2022 Ignis Delta. It comes with a key with inbuilt buttons and not a key fob. The central locking from remote was not working sometimes, so I suspected a battery issue in the remote. I changed the battery and now both the keys have stopped completely responding.
I did check the voltage in the older battery as well and it showed 3V. That means the old battery is fine.
Can someone help me with this please on how to get the remote working? Or do I need to visit the service centre?
I have tried with the new unused key as well and it’s not working as well
My SIL took delivery of Ignis Alpha MT. Got a cool 1L off in Dehradun. Car is Oct 2023 manufactured. Got accessories worth 16k.
Replacement for 2001 Maruti 800 5-speed, got peanuts for the car.
Any recommendations for a dash cam for Ignis which can be installed without blocking too much of the driver’s view? One that plugs into the 12v socket would be suitable.

I have been using 7omai Pro plus+ dual channel car dash cam in my Ignis for the past 2+ years. Works great. Installed it by myself. It's very easy to install. The power is drawn from the 12v socket. It doesn't block driver's view at all.

Its cheap mindset decisions like this from auto-makers especially in India - that result in people eventually having to buy the otherwise unsafe seat-belt cheat buckles. Or - resorting to permanently keeping the seat belt locked-in, and just taking the shoulder belt over the torso when in the seat; like most cab drivers tend to do.
Maruti saved on a cheap weight sensor in the seats. Nothing surprising, since they used to also save 10 rupees per Alto K10 AMT, by not attaching the door-closed sensor switches in the rear 2 doors, while the harness and connector was still present inside the body panel.

70Mai / DDPAI - Either will be fine. I am using the 70Mai Pro (only forward looking) in my Ignis (and other cars) - and it hides completely behind the IRVM. From the driver's seat the only indication that its present in the car - is the startup/shutdown chime of it, if you keep it enabled.

Have you mounted it on the glass using the provided 3M tape or use a suction cup stand? Any links would be appreciated.

I've always mounted them using the electrostatic film + double sided tape; both of which are included in the packaging, and of good quality. The electrostatic film makes removing the camera very easy, and mess-free in case you need to remove it in future. Its very easy to install, and to tuck the wiring inside the roof liner as well as A pillar panel. 70Mai package also includes a small spatula tool to push the wires into gaps and behind panels, which is very handy. You don't need any other tool at all.
Simply turn the camera ON, keep lookin at the image on its screen to ensure its a straight horizontally aligned view and includes all the area you need to see in a dash-cam footage, then stick it behind the IRVM while checking the image.
Usually its more convenient to install the dashcam from the passenger's seat. If you need very precise coordinates from the driver's seat - ask someone to sit in that one, to keep confirming that the camera is hidden behind the IRVM, while you make final position adjustments and stick it on.
Hi,
Last week, I installed Qubo Smart DashCam Pro GPS in my Ignis Zeta AMT. It sits just below my existing Fastag on the windshield and does not block the view! It is easy to use, and it's wide-angle view/recording is acceptable. The night recording is also good. The Qubo Pro Mobile App has a simple interface and easy to use. Overall, it is a good Dashcam if you are looking for a basic one that serves the purpose well! It supports upto 256 GB microSD card and need to buy it separately.

Some times we come across people who will simply seem non-existent. They come, do their job without any fuss, be functional and simple. There are no unnecessary dramas, no frills, no ups and downs, their life seems almost like a straight line. This character in the autoverse, is Ignis for you.
I brought this car for my wife during peak Covid time, but soon became the primary car for me. At that point, to be honest, i brought this car only because i wanted a Cheap AT with 4 wheels and a roof and all of the then available options were terrible. Most of them were 3 cyl AMT which mostly pathetic when it came to drivability. This was one of the cheaper AMT that had a 4 Cyl Engine (apart from now discontinued Santo AMT). Today, 3.5 Years and 17000 kms on have to admit, its one of the most valuable purchases in my auto buying experience.
Pros:
- Extremely Agile and Nimble, literally a Point & Shoot Setup
- Peppy Engine packs some serious punch in Acceleration
- Narrow width makes this a literal Wasp (Boon in crowded places)
- Excellent, Hard Suspension for Spirited driving
- Hard Suspension + 180 mm GC means, you don't slow down for most bumps
- Reasonable High way Performance
- 0 Rattles so far - Well put together for a Maruti !
- Reasonable efficiency (~15 kmpl combined)
Cons:
- Downright Ugly (esp the Facelift with Chrome Teeths)
- 4 Seater Car, 5th Person is best avoided
- Vague and imperfect EPS Steering almost spoils the fun
- Feels Twitchy at higher speeds esp out in highway
- Should have brought an Alpha MT instead of this Zeta AMT :(
Best Suited for:
- Crowded Urban environments
- Small Family
- People who like FTD cars
- People who like Function over Form
Mods:
Tyre upsize to 185/60/15 on stock Alloys
Wishlist:
- If they give it an AWD (like in EU markets), Ignis is a potent car to drive up hills and other narrow, rocky, slithery spaces.

Mi10 I too own an Ignis. But Delta AMT. It is a truly wonderful car when you drive it in the city. Peppy, can squeeze through tight spaces and parking is easy! Highway drive is not too bar either. It can cruise easily at 80-100 kmph, but you feel that you are going fast. On really good paved roads speeds of 120 kmph is relatively smooth. Might not be the best highway driver, but it holds it own.
November of 2023, I drove from Bangalore-Kholapur-Goa-Bangalore. Covered 1500 odd km in 3 days. The car didn't flinch. Wet roads from Chitradurga upto Kholapur. Sunny from Kholapur to Goa to Bangalore. Ghats, wet roads, mud roads, dry roads, no roads - it too it all without flinching. What reliability! Ignis is a very underrated car in the Indian Market. Has not got it's due.
