Hey guys my 2022 Compass Petrol S has developed an issue with its dashboard lights. Basically it doesn't seem to be detecting day/night and isn't dimming the screen or the instrument cluster at night. Even setting the headlamps from 'auto' to 'light on' isn't solving this. I have factory reset the infotainment but it doesn't seem like it has fixed the issue.

Has anyone ever faced this? Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Update on this:

Faced the cluster dimming issue on a 2021 Compass Limited Petrol and while the battery wire disconnection put it back in day mode, the service centre managed to reset the ECU/BCU to fix it, no software update . There is a recall for the same in the US but we don't get the same luxury. Also, this only happens when the battery becomes slightly weak over time.

It's time to replace tires on my Compass Model S. I'm inclined to upgrade to Michelin's from stock Bridgestone's, however, only Michelin Primacy 4ST (235/50/R18) seems to be available in the market right now. Latitude Sport 3 is not available here in Chennai. Anyone have any feedback on the Primacy 4ST?

Hi Dhana while i dont have experince with the Michelin Primacy 4ST. I have changed by tyres 2.5 weeks back to Michilen Latitude Sport 3 & there is a day light diffrence in the ride & insulation as compared to the stock Bridgestones. While these tyres are slighly expensive but definately worth the upgrade

Abhishek

Looks like Jeep is planning to launch an anniversary edition.

Hi bhpians! I am experiencing an issue with my JC. Its Nov, 2020 Limited plus 4x4, done 49k kms. At lower speeds of around 35kmph in third gear, I experience jerks, similarly in 2nd gear at lower speeds. Is any of the mount gone or is it something else or is it just normal? May please share your experience. TIA

Yes,it may be due to engine C Mount which causes the jerks. I have got it changed in my Jeep Compass (2018 Petrol DCT) at 50k kms in the last service. Cost around 13k + labour.

Visited Jeep service centre today to rectify rear camera issue. I’ve been facing image distortion problems with the camera, and it gets real bad in low light specially during night reverse parking.

It’s the third time I am visiting the service center in Thane, Maharashtra. To my disappointment they take almost a day to verify the issue. Since the vehicle is under warranty was expecting a fix the same day, but again they told me that they do not stock cameras as the workshop and will need to be ordered. So looking forward to another few days and long fixing hours.

Don’t feel like going in for the extended warranty now and would prefer getting these issues sorted externally through some good workshops around.

Are there dead pixels on model S of Jeep Compass infotainment system in the upper center part of it? Sharing the screenshot of the same.

Had a harrowing experience with our 6 month old , 12000 km Diesel S Compass.

While returning home on 28th Sep, at 10.30 pm the car got immobilised on Eastern Express Highway near Ghatkopar. The dash showed a red indication that the battery is discharging.

We did manage to call a local battery chap who came on his scooter with a jumper cable and a fresh battery. The car started but switched off immediately.

Called roadside assistance who sent a pick up truck which reached around 2 am . They took the vehicle to Thane inspite of our instruction that the vehicle should be taken to Andheri.

Next 5 days the vehicle was retained at Thane , in which time we decided to get the 15000 km service also. Paid 32000 for this.

I have been repeatedly requesting the Service advisor about the cause of the failure but he is either not knowledgeable or does not care to respond.

I am regretting having gone in for the Compass. Service quality seems to be a question mark. Cheaper and more reliable petrol options may have been more sensible. Even though the Compass has many great features, service quality and reliability are matters of huge concern.

Sharing this in this forum if anyone has had any similar experience with the S diesel and to think twice before purchasing the jeep.

Any parts replaced under warranty? You should be able to see this in the bill.

And for the standard 15000 Km service, it costs around 16-17K. Any wear and tear parts(brake pads) replaced?

Hi Divyanshu, no these are just design elements of the wallpaper. On an unrelated note did you get OTA software updates on your Jeep?

I am still waiting for my new compass. The second PDI shockingly failed again. And Iam utterly disappointed with this experience.

What should I do now?

Would you mind elaborating what made you unhappy during the PDI? If there are minor quality issues like a bit of paint bubble or pin holes etc. I'd suggest you ignore 'em. From my own experience and as some of the best boarders here will tell you, don't lose your sleep over something that won't matter in the long run. The car is an amazing beast. It will put a smile on your face every time you get behind the wheel. Negotiate a discount to your liking and bring home the beauty.

The piano black inside the car was filled with unlimited scratches. The left side of dashboard where it fits in with the car had a gap where you could easily put in your finger. The rear boot had a cracked panel. Paint chips, minor scratches, panel gaps, uneven fitting, blisters, and dust contamination were also present. And this was an October manufacturered car.

By the way, which model do you have and how much of rattling are you facing with your compass.

Those are a bit too many to accept. :) You may want to reject the unit and ask for a new one. When you say this is Oct manufactured unit, you mean Oct 2023 eh? Get the VIN and tire manufacture week/year. Those two numbers will clarify a lot of things. Diwali is around the corner so there will be a slew of discounts from here on till the end of the year. Better chance of you getting a good deal as they gear up to clear units. I have a Model S, no rattle thankfully aside of the occational crackle of the head unit plastic housing. I took it for a long ride immediately after buying as I visited my hometown to get a BH series number. A ride of almost 2400Kms to and fro and that got me used to the car and boy did I love the ride! It is a rocket on those 8 lane highways.

No, October 2024 and a model S.
Got the car within 15 days from the day of manufacturing to the stockyard.

I wanted to know which year you bought your compass, because If the rattling is present in current iteration of compass, i can't tolerate it.
