Visited Jeep service centre today to rectify rear camera issue. I’ve been facing image distortion problems with the camera, and it gets real bad in low light specially during night reverse parking.

It’s the third time I am visiting the service center in Thane, Maharashtra. To my disappointment they take almost a day to verify the issue. Since the vehicle is under warranty was expecting a fix the same day, but again they told me that they do not stock cameras as the workshop and will need to be ordered. So looking forward to another few days and long fixing hours.

Don’t feel like going in for the extended warranty now and would prefer getting these issues sorted externally through some good workshops around.

Actually you should go for the extended warranty, else be ready to pay big bucks after the 3rd year.

Jeep is so confident in their product being faulty that they dont even offer extended warranty beyond five years.

None of the ASC's have any spares in stock ever.

Had a harrowing experience with our 6 month old , 12000 km Diesel S Compass.

I had a similar issue when I had the Compass Model 4x4 Diesel AT Model S(2021).

The ASC had to replace the alternator and the pulley, back then they said this is a very common issue and then due to the sudden battery drain, they also make customers replace the battery.

Any parts replaced under warranty? You should be able to see this in the bill.

And for the standard 15000 Km service, it costs around 16-17K. Any wear and tear parts(brake pads) replaced?

No invoice/service information is provided for parts replaced under warranty, also the part supposedly goes back to Fiat and is not returned to the customer.

They do provide invoice for parts replacement under warranty/extended warranty. Such items will be marked as warranty/extended warranty under "Issue Type" in the invoice.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I have already had a bad experience with their service. At 20k kms I had to change the clutch plates and flywheel. Paid the entire amount then, though it wasn’t my driving fault but sudden gear non engaging issue while driving, which Jeep totally ignored to consider as a primary reason for failure.

I have a good engineer around my area. So with due consideration, would spend another 60k+ on the warranty.

I fact I am currently at the service station to get the rear cam fixed. They delayed till now saying it was the festive season, so couldn’t get the part delivered on time. Sad situation and a pathetic service for this good brand.

During the 3 years of my ownership, I got the following things replaced under warranty:
1. Clutch plate and flywheel
2. Tail Gate Assembly(including the motor etc etc, and this took them 3 months to replace)
3. Alternator and Alternator Pully
4. Front right side headlamp assembly
5. Driver Side ventilated seat hardware(seat ventilation used to repeatedly break randomly)

The headlamp assembly was replaced after the three year original warranty had ended and this single replacement would have cost me more than the cost of the 2Y extended warranty package.

In the end, I got really irritated with these frequent problems with the vehicle and the attitude of the ASS in my city and so decided to get rid of the Compass.

The ordeal that I went through trying to find a buyer at fair price can fill another 10 pages here. The car has absolutely no resale value.

They don’t have clutch plates covered under warranty. If you managed to get it done, it’s great.

So many issues being reported. I am keeping my fingers crossed. It has been 2.5 years and 62k kms of absolute joy with my limited diesel manual. Everything is still on stock. No clutch, no brake pads no battery replacement yet. Service cost have been within 20k, which is reasonable.

It's sad to see a nice product getting killed due to reliability issues and poor after sales support. Buyers have to think twice before plonking big bucks on Jeep products which explains low sale and even lower demand in used car market :unhappy

No, October 2024 and a model S.
Got the car within 15 days from the day of manufacturing to the stockyard.

I wanted to know which year you bought your compass, because If the rattling is present in current iteration of compass, i can't tolerate it.

Wow! factory to yard in 15 days is pretty quick given not many people opt for the machine. I'm sure you checked the VIN to confirm. Mine is a Aug 2023 unit and I bought in Dec. The tire manufacturing date tied up too with a July 2023 manufacture. Best of luck for your purchase.

I will take your wishes for the next car but won't be buying a JEEP anymore. Rest of the strong will be shared someday on my experience.
My parking will remain vacant for some time, for a better product.

What is the frequency of topping up the DEF in the diesel Compass?

My car showed low DEF at 10,000 km when I topped it up ( two containers) .

Then she went for service at 12000 km when it was presumably topped up again . Now at 13500 km it is again showing low DEF indication. This does not seem normal.

Any ideas what can be happening ?

I had recently bought my Jeep in May 2024. I had enquired about this. I am told a top up is needed between 8k to 10k Kms (by the sales person as well as their service advisor).

By the way, which model do you have and how much of rattling are you facing with your compass.

Hi Divyanshu,

I had bought my jeep Compass in May 2024 (A year old model of June 2023 manufacture Limited 4*4). Could negotiate healthy discount and hence the choice. I did my PDI through Zekardo and also went myself during PDI. Was in much better condition than what you have described here, that too for a Model S. Very unlikely for a 15 day out of the factory model.

As regards rattling noise, it was quite irritating and very evident for initial few days. I did some digging on YouTube. Based on YouTube gyan, removed all the extra plastics/sponge covering on the side of the seat etc. (especially one near the seatbelt clamp). After that the rattling is not so much annoying. Its present in bits and pieces but is peaceful enough!

Regards,
Chetan

The def tank capacity is 13 ltrs. There is also a gauge which shows the def level in the tank. Usually once it falls below the 50% mark, the alarm goes off. I usually drive till it is around 30%, and then get it refilled. For me it runs around 7-8k kms for every 10 ltrs. If your def was topped up during service, then it would have been billed. Most likely it wasn't topped, and hence the warning lights after 3.5k kms
