Guys, I got a new floor mat installed today on my Thar. Honestly, this is one of the rarest high quality aftermarket accessories I found compatible for the new Thar. It snug fits perfectly and is of high quality too. Brand name is GFX Life Long from Galio India. Total damage incurred was Rs. 2800/- and I highly recommend this one for all Thar owners over the so called 7D types which in my opinion is a bit over done with its stitching design and asthetics. This GFX one goes very well with the rugged interior looks of our Jeep too.. |
Agree with you completely. the GFX Life Long from Galio India looks very rugged and at the same time looks to be of very nice fit for the Thar. In fact for the price it is great value for money. I remember having bought the boot mat from the same brand few months back for my father's Innova Crysta and the authorised dealer did recommend it to me strongly. Going by the quality and true to its name, it looks like it would last a lifetime while being a perfect fit too. Glad to note your feedback too which is inspiring.

How grippy or slippery is it on your feet while driving? I mean both Left and Right feet.
Cheers

Same story here. The service head had no justification other than 'water needs to evaporate on hot brakes' and thereby 'the noise will go away'.
'Let us meanwhile clean your brake shoes and check the disks for any dirt' which didn't sit well with my explanation that the noise comes *only* on cold starts (~ 5-10C ambient) if that's what we pahadis are to believe 'cold' to be anyway.
They sandpapered down the brake pads (only the front) and pressurized-air-cleaned the rear shoes. The service mechanic said 'sir ye vapas aayega' (this will return!) :Frustrati This makes using Hill Descend Contol an aural headache to use. I understand brake fade well so I have simply decided it's not worth it.
The problem has diminished but so has the winter, so for what it's worth, I'm done having these opened up often. The screws they use on the rear drum outer housing is X-shaped and wore down on the first disassembly! Not promising at all!

The stock mats are very soft and grippy (too soft - so bad that the driver side wore out in a month and they sent me a replacement) - the lifelong ones are slippery in comparison, but not as poor as stock. I will recommend noodle mats with a custom skid plate (rubber, if possible) for where one's heel would rest.

Considering that wiring hasn't been the strength of at least the initial batches of the Thar, I'd suggest not to do a H8 without relay - it's twice the stock wattage! |
The dealership put 35W RD x500 LEDs on the stock wiring.
That's a major gamble if it weren't cut out for the job.
I've checked the vDrop and wire temps - they're cool to the touch, and voltage drop is insignificant, indicating sufficient gague.
I will re-test in the summer when head lowers the current carrying capacity of a wire.

It's for about 3k locally. I may be able to source it when I'm back in NOIDA, for you.
It is back-ordered

Hi navpreet318
Here is the link where you can order it online.
However, I got it directly from their official distributor here in Bangalore and I highly recommend this product as quality is top notch.

35W LED are usually 18W x 2 bulbs, if that's the case then should be fine. Also, LEDs are by far much more efficient - I did an experiment on how hot the lamps get with halogen vs LED a while back and posted about it in my ownership thread - posting from my phone, so don't have the link handy, but even at the same wattage, LEDs run a lot cooler implying lesser wastage of energy!

Really sad about the information leak though.
I got multiple calls from the scamsters so I blocked the number. I guess Team-bhp needs a separate thread on this topic of Mahindra RSA Scam. |
Just an FYI for everyone here.
This is a SCAM. Someone in another popular travel forum reported being scammed. He paid 4k cash on delivery and then when he tried helpline numbers mentioned on the card, all were No service numbers.
Please be careful of these calls guys. Just buy extended warranty and RSA from day one through dealer.

Very true. Most LED car lights sold in pairs has combined wattage advertised. The LED projector fog lamps that I installed had an advertised wattage of 35W low beam and 40W high beam even though its a projector and there is no high low dual source, its just a shroud which is used to get high and low beam. I was thinking of getting a relay harness for the projectors but I measured the current draw at 12V and the wattage per bulb turned out to be 21W max each not 35/40W as advertised. Its connected to the stock wiring now, no issues.

Yes, its a scam and some people have fallen for it as well. Mahindra should give an official statement to warn unsuspecting customers. Luckily I did get myself extended warranty and RSA before delivery.
Finally after two months got few things added. Much much more to go☺️

As of now not much. Apart from grill and headlights, I have changed AC vents (driver side was broken from day one).
Rest LED fog lights with 3 colors was ordered but somehow normal white ones came so now again waiting for them to come. As of now there's no fog lights (see pic below). Though it looks good without themlol:
Next would need to install radiator grill and maybe work on ICE. Not sure I wanna spend big bucks on ICE on Thar as it's not ICE friendly. Let's see.

How is the light output of those headlights? How is the low beam cutoff? Can you please give a picture of the headlight output/cutoff against a wall.

The new grill and the lights look great:thumbs up
From where did you procure the AC vents, grill, and lights? Would it be possible for you to share the link or source address? I have a friend who is wanting to do similar mods to his Thar along with the front armrest and a rearview camera.

All these Chinese lights are just showoff. Same is the case here. I picked these lights just for the looks. The actual working lights would be the same as yours LED projector fog lights (3 color ones).
Will try to click pics against wall and on road when I get time for sure.

Thanks buddy.
You can get these online as well as from your local garage. I knew someone who has a workshop here and deals in custom work on cars. So everything was sourced by him. I just told him what I want and he got it for me.
Got new lenses for the Truck. Yes, I named it TRUCK!
100 Watts LED Headlights with DRLs and GTR LED Projector Foglamps
Just returned back from Winter Spiti drive. Will share the experience shortly
