How did you manage to buy it and get it shipped to India. Not able to figure it out from that website. Lazada website??

So there are two ways of getting it. If someone is travelling to Bangkok then he can visit a Toyota dealer & order whatever genuine accessories you want. They can be hand carried to India. See below address of a Toyota dealer.
Other way is to find out someone who is regularly visiting Bangkok & buying parts or accessories for customers in India. I heard some people in Chennai are doing this work.
I came across Rahul Chandwani of RS Autotech located in Goa on Instagram. He can arrange the parts through one of the person doing this business & then courier you once they arrive in India. However charges are more than double the cost mentioned in Toyota Accessory list. His no is 9921844222. Helpful person. You can give my reference though he is not related to me.

Got the 30,000 Kms servicing of my Diesel MT 4X4 Fortuner done at MGF Toyota, Gurgaon earlier today. Mileage stands at 31,500 Kms and the car is about 1 year 11 months old.

Routine servicing done as I did not have any complaints as such with the running which included - Wheel balancing/ alignment with tyre rotation, TGloss AC duct cleaning and disinfectant, TGloss Mech Care, Engine Flush, Engine Oil (0W 20 - 5.1L), Air cleaner, gasket and oil filter. The initial estimate was about INR 18,700 which to me appeared to be on the higher side considering that my understanding was 20,000 Kms and 40,000 Kms are major servicing milestones.

I decided to wait at the workshop and in between the service advisor informed that the Battery is weak and at 49% power and that the car may breakdown anytime and that it was advisable to change. While I was reluctant initially considering the running I have and car in complete stock condition and single-handedly driven, later he persuaded me and to avoid any inconvenience on the road, I agreed to the replacement. I did express my surprise considering that the car is not even 2 years old and the battery needs a replacement. This was the stock battery and there was less than a month's gap between vehicle manufacturing date and delivery.

The battery was fitted in my presence and was Exide Mileage MLDIN66 which costed me about INR 6500 as against quoted price of INR 8500 (with INR 1000 deducted for old battery and additional INR 1000 discount on the new one). It comes with 60 months warranty (30 months replacement plus 30 months pro-rata discount).

The final bill for servicing including the battery came out to be INR 24,860, which I felt was exorbitant (even without the battery) considering that my 20,000 Kms servicing at Espirit Noida had costed me INR 13,824.

This was my first experience with MGF Toyota, Gurgaon (as I wanted to check them out) for servicing other than few visits which I have made for AdBlue refill. Prior to this, I have been getting the servicing done at Espirit Noida and at Espirit Cuttack (where it was bought) earlier.

Wanted to get your thoughts on the battery replacement even before completing 2 years and the service cost amount. Is the experience something to be concerned about or I am reading too much into it. Happy to hear your experience. Will decide on the Service Center for future servicing accordingly. Thank you.

I have a same age petrol run only 11k but during my routine service too I was advised in same, and cost was also same. If you are in Gurgaon then MGF is the only decent choice here. I had my Altis too serviced here for 15 years of its life. If they lack in your expectations just shake the service manager a bit and everything falls in line.

Hope this helps. BTW loved reading about your beast if it was not for 10 year diesel rule I would have bought the similar configuration, not that I am regretting my decision the petrol is more than adequate for me and my family.

The facelift Fortuner has shorter battery life. My cars battery went dead exactly at 3 year mark. Your service cost is slightly higher, TGloss AC duct/mech care should have been avoided. I also assume 0W20 oil was used which is expensive compared to 5W30. With wheel alignment and balance routine service cost with 0W20 is 15K+.

^ Does the vehicle get parked in the sun? How about the brand of Battery, are you all running Exide or Amaron?

Mostly to do with Auto Start Stop feature. I have seen most have replaced battery at 2-3 year mark.

Agree. Start stop feature is not suitable for such big engines. Every time when engine gets restarted there is a tremendous load on the battery.
Luckily my 2024 model diesel does not have start stop feature. Pre mature failure of batteries could be a reason that Toyota decided to remove this feature.

Correct! Switching the Auto Start Stop off is the first thing I do after starting my Fortuner. It has become muscle memory now, just like putting the seatbelt on as soon as I sit in the car :)

For your running and use case, the petrol serves best I think as the diesel would have been a waste.

Glad that you liked reading about my configuration. I took the plunge after extensively reading on our Forum and decided to go ahead with the Manual Diesel 4x4 as 10 years is still a long time to enjoy and if one still wants to retain it longer, NOC can be taken and car shifted to another State.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, 1 year 11 month is very short battery life though I feel, had I not agreed to the replacement it would have possibly gone a few months more very easily. Agree with you that the AC duct cleaning and mech care could have been avoided. I checked my earlier invoices and 0W20 is being used in the past as well and is slightly more expensive than 5W30. Compared 30,000 kms servicing invoice of my father's Innova Crysta (which was INR 15,000 plus) to get a sense and I realised that except these heads and the battery, the invoice for Fortuner would have actually come out to be less than INR 15,000.:Shockked:

No, it is parked in covered parking at home as well as office. Stock battery was Exide. Replaced one is also Exide of same specification but of better quality is what I was told by the Service Advisor.

I am not sure if my MT Diesel Fortuner has Auto Start-Stop feature or have I missed it completely. In any case, I have never used it so not sure what made the battery to go weak.

I replaced with Exide DIN80 for 8,600 in Hyderabad in July. My stock battery lasted 35 months with 40k done. Its 4*4 AT.

I think you can opt for Toyota Smiles package from next service onwards. I think it is cheaper and they don't try to push you into buying non needed stuff.

I had paid about INR 35k for 40k and 50k service which includes brake pad replacement (front). it was a two year package deal.
I opted for wheel alignment and balancing outside as Bridgestone dealers do a neat job for 1000 against ~2500+ at Toyota

I wanted to get 5th alloy for my spare tyre. So I went to the local tyre shop and coincidentally there was a brand new Fortuner for Alloy change. Shopkeeper is willing to let go of the set for very cheap i.e. 25-30k for 4 wheels. If anyone here is interested, you can contact me as I will have 3 spare wheels.

I would like to post this update. With heavy heart and tears in my eyes i finally sold my Tata Safari storme 2014 VX 4x2 to Cars24 after munching almost 1,10,000 kms on the ODO

Bought fortuner attitude black 4x4 AT. Got delivery of my new vehicle this week 3rd October morning and after temple pooja left for thiruannamalai temple visit same day followed by some vacation unwind time to pondicherry beachside resort

Congratulations on the new car. Would be helpful if you could list out your own reasons for choosing the Fortuner and also what else did you consider/evaluate before picking this one.

I love the black color but somehow never buy a black car due to the heat that we face in India. Somehow, I always feel lighter colors are better suited to our weather here. Hope you hit the 1L KMs mark sooner in the Fortuner than the Safari.
